You're wasting your time Callan, whatever you say will be wrong in the eyes of the tax dodging fraudster. Take the same advise that I was given, ignore him and don't give him the platform he clearly craves. Of course, sticking the boot in over his fraudulent tax affairs certainly relieves the tedious drivel he spouts continuely.

Actually, there's nothing whatsoever fraudulent about my tax affairs.

As it happens, I'm currently in the middle of doing my "declaration de la renta" for 2014 (not due until the end of June) and will probably file the completed return sometime next week.

(As I've said before), my tax returns have never been queried all the time I've been in Spain.

Of course, I'll be sure to let you know if they are.:raspberry:

You are right of course, debating with Barna is of course pretty much a lost cause, somebody I work with, the other day even asked me if he might have a learning difficulty of some sort, now I don't think he has but clearly something isn't right and if he was a client of mine I would be sending him for testing to see where he is on the Autism spectrum.

Pondering the debate amongst Left vs Right on SZ , from the point of view has anyone managed to change someone's mind on whatever the topic.
There are many posters from the left / right on here who I find sincere, genuine, free of arrogance and can put their view forward so at least others can understand though not necessarily agree.

Sadly Barna is not one of these, he sets himself up to be knocked down time and time again, and he is more a figure of ridicule on SZ, becoming a parody of himself, more interested in claiming some sort of intellectual superiority over others than making valid points and and adding to discussion rather than stifling or eroding it.

I notice Rob his brother recently stuck up for him on the Tax avoidance thread that was dedicated to him, I like Rob and get why he did it.....but it has come to something not right, when you are sticking up for your Middle aged brother because he behaves like a sack of bollocks on an internet forum.

Something for all to think on perhaps?

For a social worker you do a pretty good job of character assassination.

Perhaps you should consider updating your CSW qualification by doing a course in empathy.

The idea that I might have a learning difficulty or suffer from autism would be amusing, if it weren't also insulting, especially to those who are genuinely affected by such disorders.

The only thing I agree with in your post, is the difficulty of changing anyone's mind across the left/right spectrum.

Personally, I find it indicative that no sooner had the tax avoidance thread (rightly) been closed down than you rush to make value judgements about me on yet another thread.

I'm reminded of a quotation by Eric Dezenhall, (a PR guru):- "In our culture, whoever attacks wins, whoever defends, loses."

He was talking about the US but his remarks are (IMO) equally relevant to GB or the right-wing, herd mentality, (of which you are a part) on SZ.

Firstly I didn't say you had a learning difficulty (that was a an art therapist, I work closely with who specialises in behaviour disorders), she is not registered on SZ but enjoys reading the posts.

As far as Empathy is concerned, as I said if you were a client I would be having you tested for Autism, why would that be disrespectful to people who are already diagnosed?...that way I could better understand your thoughts/feeling and understand why you behave the way you do.

What is insulting that you rule yourself from suffering from a condition, or have you already been tested?

As far as what I wrote in the tax thread, I stand by questioning your morality of legally avoiding paying tax in a country where many are suffering and could do with every euro.

Interesting quotation that you put up by the way, I'm assuming you see yourself in the role of the defender?....and those that you perceive to be right wing the attackers?

Perhaps if you turn that round and think of your many posts on UKIP, who then is the attacker?

given the importance that you attach to your written word in this forum, I'd suggest a PR guru could be a great investment for you.

You're normally one of the more thoughtful right-wing posters on SZ.

I don't mind being attacked for my political views, (within reason), but draw the line at blatant character assassination and having my personal morality and integrity questioned, both obvious attempts to play the man rather than the ball.

My personal tax affairs are perfectly in order.Thank you.

I'd like to say more but I have to nip out and vote now.Pip,pip!

As we are using football analogies... This would perhaps be more appropriate on the "tax thread" - but your silence despite repeated questioning, whilst responding on other points, was more akin to a player playing for the free kick. And in true Wycombe style, you are now rolling around with a head "injury". Bless - the self-built victim is never looked upon kindly.

There are other times where silence is appropriate, and would be beneficial for you. Such as knowing when you are barking up the wrong tree. It might be your opinion, but sometimes you can't turn the lady in the way you'd like. Again - a PR guru would help :-)

I was trying to hold up a mirror to "the gang" on this occasion as I thought it was a bit out of order. I rarely post in defence of my bro' as it would be a full-time job (and I'm only a part-timer) but I'm glad the thread was closed as it wasn't really doing anyone any favours. And I thank you your kind words, Sir.

As this thread has clearly gone completely off topic perhaps the time has come to close it all together
I think the thread has had its interesting moments ... and getting back on topic, it should be an interesting time for UKIP over the next year or so or whenever it is that the EU Referendum happens. It may even be more interesting beyond that as with 3.9m votes at the election, and the number of 2nd places in the North in what was "old Labour" territory, they have clearly become a force to be reckoned with.
