UK must pay more to the EU.

To be fair, we are the best country in Europe, so they feel jealous of our might.

That may well be, surely though the money should stay in the UK for the NHS / Schools / Housing or whatever.

Thanks for the rebate chaps hope we get a bigger payout when we submit our tax returns.
Its all total bollocks and thats why im out.

Absolutely outrageous. Being punished for success - socialism in action. And people wonder why UKIP's popularity is surging. The sooner we get out of the EU the better. Cameron has to refuse to pay it.

Couldn't agree more. UKIP are slowly converting disgruntled Tories and Labour supporters but when you read things such as the above, you don't have to cast your eye too far to see why. Stories like that only cause more headaches for Cameron and Miliband.

People are disillusioned with politics and UKIP have emerged as a credible(ish) party for people to use as a protest vote. Time for Cameron to prove he's got a pair and tell the EU where to poke it if they think we're just going to chuck them another £1.7b.

This is a "dream" issue to come up for Cameron just before the R and S by-election and next year's G/E.

It will be interesting to see how he plays it.

I notice,(unlike with the Scottish referendum result, for example)that there hasn't been an official Downing Street statement, just nano-seconds after the event.

Clearly, some more serious thinking going on this time.

Probably refuse to pay it then when he thinks everyone's forgotten pop a cheque in the post.

To be fair, Britain did agree to the revised economic statistics to be done. The treasury knows this was needing to be paid but the government uproar is about the timing of the leak before David Cameron is meeting other European leaders.

Probably refuse to pay it then when he thinks everyone's forgotten pop a cheque in the post.

Just pay it on Christmas Day.

Simply outrageous. Why the heck should we be bailing the rest of Europe out because we've managed our accounts rather better?! Sooner we get out, the better.

He says he won't pay it but he will have little choice if he wants to stay in the EU. I'll say this though, if he follows through and tips them bollocks then he has my vote in May.
