Well that's a new approach. Phil Brown asked his senior players who wanted to play tonight in the Essex Senior Cup at Roots Hall. Normally some players pushing for a first team place or coming back from injury are told they are playing. Cian Bolger, Conor Clifford, Jack Payne and Shaq Coulthirst all put their hands up. PB said that Shaq Coulthirst was particularly keen to play.

...... what does that say about the marginal players who didn't put their hands up ?

Didn't Harlow beat us in this last season? See they are unbeaten at the top of Ryman North and top scorer Alex Read has scored 22 already this year

Will we show an interest if he impresses tonight?

Quite keen to see how he does against "decent" opposition.

Was at training today and there was some sort of junior blues or similar thing going on. There was a stall up and Elvis and Sammy(No, not the real Elvis), and about 100 people, parents and kids. They even had papa johns pizza brought in to the stall. I was very tempted to get out of my car and be a parent imposter for a bit of pizza. Some of the players stayed behind and mixed with them, signing autographs, having a chat and doing the photo's thing, very impressed. Some of them went straight through into Boots and Laces, not impressed. Nice to see Ben Coker play all the practice matches, even tho the arm is locked in place. Daniel Bentley was very good today. Lenny showed why he is best in midfield. Barney wasn't there, don't know if injured or he has decided to play tonight instead.

Harlow weren't very good-our youth team was worse-Read got one of their 3 second half goals-our 2(one a very dubious pen.) came right at the very end from Seedy Nije, who has now been released by Billericay.

Think Read got 50 odd last year as well so surprised if no one has gone to check him out
Blimey if true that is rare for that type of player to stay at the same club as the norm is to be snapped up by a better club, clubs must be looking at him now tho eh surely, maybe brown is to or will be tonight I would of thought so, and a few extras:unsure:

Billericay have released Seedy? Blimey, I thought that the kid was at least good enough to cut it at that level. Sorry to hear that as I met him a couple of times and he seemed like he was a nice lad with a decent attitude.

Yes, that was the Junior Blues' Meet the Players day. Most of those players that went inside, came back out after a few moments, almost everyone was out at some point to mingle with the youngsters. Barney is, apparently, ill. Conor, Cian Ted and Jack will be involved in tonight's game and so weren't there.

And you wouldn't have got pizza, there was only enough for the kids! We learnt our lesson last year after having enough pizza for several whole ones to have disappeared inside and several more to have made their way back to Roots Hall at the end of the event!

I thought Coughlan took control of the development squad and there have been goals galore in previous games.
He normally does, and hopefully there will be plenty of goals again tonight for those of us who have been starved of them for far too long.
