Apparently according to rumours, we have tried to sign him up on a short deal and he will be coming back to us to decide over the next few days.

He has been playing in India, but is available until the end of the season!

Much rather sign a decent prospect like McAlinden (if we are indeed looking at him) than a veteran like Chopra with a lot of clubs and numerous off-field problems in his past history. Besides which take a look at his Wiki, he looks like he's let himself go in that 2014 pic from India.....

Heard that he is very close to his family since he joined a team in India - especially his Naan !

Michael Chopra is a complete non starter. He has a toxic personality and to be avoided at all costs.

him leaving a good wage in india to come to Southend is laughable given his track record

move on. Not gonna happen.

That doesn't mean too much IMHO, Chopra hasn't scored a goal in almost 2 years. I'd hope Brown would look to sign a striker based on the fact he is sure he can score goals NOW, not based on his past record. Chopra used to be a very good striker with a decent goals record, unfortunately his prolific eye for goal appears to have deserted him somewhat since about 2007. I accept that he was playing in the Championship before going to India but he is getting on in age and there is no guarantee that he will get goals in L2. A young, highly-rated striker who has done well before out on loan at our level or L1 would be my preference. I'd be delighted with McAlinden or Elliot Lee. In McAlinden's case I see he is from Cannock - I seem to remember the last Cannock-born striker Blues had did rather well at the Hall..... :whistling:

Browns young prospect strikers have done so well....

Seeing as no one has provided any sort of source or substance to this it has no link to Southend...
