The fourth player does actually touch the ball as it's an indirect freekick.

Referee got it wrong. The ball must travel its own circumference. 27-28" to be in play. A retake is the correct decision.
 
That goal is illegal as the ball must roll its circumference ,but still a clever routine.

That's what I thought, but I've just looked at the laws of the game. They say:

Free kick inside the penalty area
Indirect free kick to the attacking team:
• all opponents must be at least 9.15 m (10 yds) from the ball until it is in
play, unless they are on their own goal line between the goalposts
• the ball is in play when it is kicked and moves
• an indirect free kick awarded inside the goal area must be taken on the
goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the
infringement occurred

The ball just about moves, so the free kick is just about legal.
