He signed Mohsni and had to manage the fool. Legend for me.
Didnt he sign some of the current squad too?

Leonard, Prosser, Timlin & Hurst off the top of my head. Sturrock also gave Bentley his first start.

Mr Sturrock did a fine job for us and laid foundations afresh for our club to survive and prosper.
He signed some decent players and some not so good.
For the majority of his time with us I did not enjoy the style of play he used but I recognise that the team had strengths that he built on and weaknesses that he sought to minimise.
I really thought he would halt Yeovil's slide and like others I wish him future happiness and health.

Remember going to Dartford friendly in July 2010 we had hardly any players. Morale was low and many fans feared another relegation. In my opinion Sturrock did well keeping us away from danger. Was also unlucky not to get us up in 11/12. Most Southend fans will have a lot of respect for the man im sure

in soccernomics they say he's a guy who consistently over-achieved throughout his career. they say he was, when they wrote the book, one of the very best lower league managers around.
his work at Plymouth was very impressive and i think he did a good job here.
he did sign a lot of players and was very well backed by Big Ron and not all of them worked out.
he also infuriated me by playing long ball to Eastwood and Benyon but overall I think he did a fine job here and was unlucky not to get us promoted.
i think three years was a fair crack but i'm grateful for what he did here

I still have my own gratefulness to Sturrock for his rebuilding job in the summer 2010, when we are dying on our feet & in transfer embargo & having 4 players left on our book. One month before the season started, we was red hot favourite to go down. Has Tilson still in charge of us that year, I am sure we would go straight through to National Premier, we still struggle to get out of that league, look at Stockport!

He might not be our best manager ever, but he did an important job in our history, without him, we would still in National Premier by now & getting beaten by Braintree etc.

I admit that in hindsight Brown was a significant upgrade on Luggy and a much needed appointment for the club. But lets not forget that without Sturrock we could have easily slipped out of the league, let alone been in the top 8 of league 1 and would never have had Timlin, Leonard, Corr, Mohsni, Hurst or Hall alongside many others playing at the club. The man gave us some memorable moments and some quality/crazy players. Was a good manager for us at a tough time.

Actually, I think Yeovil's sacking of Paul Sturrock may have been a bit premature. About half of the players he signed over the summer sustained quite serious injuries in the early part of the season. But you can understand why the Yeovil board was getting nervous. From their standpoint, they could not wait too much longer if they were going to revive their fortunes and avoid a drop into non-league football. I would not be surprised if many of the players that Sturrock has assembled now went on to better things with the next manager.

Paul Sturrock has joined Non - League Plymouth Parkway as an adviser.

I'm surprised, because I recall he was suffering from Parkinsons back in 2008 (and from my personal experience, it's sadly generally speaking a one way road).

Yet, i'm so pleased to read the news,as most people on here agree, that he did a great job for us (especially during very difficult times) and more so, that he must be in some what of good health to be offered and take the post.

Having recently called in to see Paul whilst holidaying with family in the S West, I am delighted to say Luggy is in fine form and looked a picture of health. He has been working hard on his land and built himself a great 'man cave' in which we enjoyed our afternoon. He also demonstrated that his cooking skills are still up to his usual high standard.

Man City star Emile Mpenza to sue ex-boss Paul Sturrock after claims Viagra left him too aroused to train.

Sturrock managed a string of clubs including Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday and Southend.

Mpenza denies Sturrock's suggestion in his autobiography that he took the impotency drug and is now launching a claim for damages.

Former Manchester City star Emile Mpenza is to sue former boss Paul Sturrock - after claims he was so sexually aroused after taking Viagra that he missed training.

Mpenza is furious at the remarks, which are made in Sturrock's autobiography.

The striker was Sturrock's big name signing in 2008 when he took him to Plymouth Argyle from Manchester City .

But Mpenza, now 38, struggled with injury and made just three starts for the club.

In his autobiography Sturrock claims he was told on one occasion Mpenza had taken Viagra and "still had an erection" the following day which meant he could not train.

However, Mpenza has now vehemently denied the claims, dismissing it as "an imaginary tale".

According to the Daily Record Mpenza’s lawyer, Laurent Denis, said: “We have launched a claim for damages. Emile has been deeply shocked by this imaginary tale, which undermines his reputation and seeks to discredit him.

“Not only does the use of Viagra suggest sexual impotence but for good measure it turns out to be an illicit doping product.”

Sturrock, now 59, says in his book the story has been regarded by many as an "urban myth".

But he wrote: “I was told in all seriousness that Emile had taken Viagra the previous night and still had an erection and wouldn’t be able to take part in training.

“The excuse has gone down in the annals of urban myths but I swear it’s true.

“Even by the standards of football’s surreal moments, it is in a class of its own.”

Mpenza spent an injury-plagued season at Home Park before going on to play for Swiss side Sion. He retired from football in 2014.

Sturrock, who also managed Southampton , enjoyed two spells in charge of Plymouth before leaving for the final time in 2009.

His most recent managerial role was at Yeovil Town, with whom he parted company in 2015.

Someone struggling for money since retiring from football and seen an opportunity for one last pay day?

Sturrock claims he was told by someone else and he's far from suggesting he was doping, can't see the case going very far but you never know.

Great find Tangled. I used to love watching Dundee United in those midweek European matches, the highlights normally on Sportsnight, hosted by David Coleman. And Paul Sturrock was genuinely my favourite player for them. He could play main striker or left winger. Scored and made loads of goals. Brilliant and intelligent player. A few English teams were after him each season in his prime, but amazingly he kept loyal to Dundee United. They were the only professional club he played for between 1974--89. Obviously not driven by money.
