Remember that story where Corbyn claimed there were no seats on a Virgin train and then Branson released a clip saying that he was lying? Someone requested the CCTV footage and 7 months later Virgin have finally sent it to them, it seems to indicate Corbyn was telling the truth after all.

this shouldn't be a minor issue but the reality is that Virgin claimed Corbyn lied and traingate was referred to over and over again on TV and in the press - even on here many people saw it as an MP lying and an MP not being able to organise a PR stunt so how can they be trusted to run the country.

So it's actually a big deal when a tax dodging businessman doctered footage to falsely accuse an MP of lying - especially during a general election. I'm not aware of an apology being issued but I expect much more than that from Branson now the truth is out.

Is it the truth though. Anyone can doctor video footage. Seems like a very slow news day to me.

for it to have taken this long for someone to have prised the CCTV out of Virgin seems plausible, for someone to wait so many months to docter footage of what is old news seems less plausible. And of course Virgin only ever released stills from the CCTV rather than the CCTV - why would they do that?
It might be a slow news day when it seems Branson was lying and Corbyn was telling the truth but it was big big news when it was alleged to be the other way round.

Not a huge fan of Abi Wilkinson but she's spot on here about #traingate

Taken from the link below:

"The facts which are not in dispute;

Team Corbyn didn’t reserve a seat.
Corbyn himself said he found an empty single seat, but he wanted two adjacent.
Virgin staff offered Corbyn first class seats – which he declined.
The Virgin conductor later found Team Corbyn seats.
During the time between other seats being found (by upgrading other passengers) they filmed the now infamous agit-prop video."

Birmingham City Council issueing redundencies to their binmen. Seems a Labour Council can be nasty and underhanded as well. Who'd of thought it?

The DUP are reportedly voting with Labour against the Tory NHS pay & tuition fees vote today it's rumoured. That's a billion pounds is well spent Maybot, eh

And that's a bad thing? Also, the billion hasn't been paid or spent yet and it's really just extra funding over a two year period. No doubt the SNP would enter a simular deal with Labour if the oppotunity comes along. They all have the morals of alley cats.

That would be the same SNP that put Mrs May on the spot in PMQ's earlier, when The SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford, asked the Maybot questions about wage growth in the UK, the cost of living and the UK economy, which of course she couldn't or wouldn't answer.

Getting desperate now.Perhaps you missed the fringe speaker in the headline?

"Labour fringe speaker's Holocaust remarks spark new antisemitism row."

Not that that excuses his shameful opinion as a holocaust denier for a moment.

Ahh with you... it's ok as he isn't allowed on the main bill...perhaps next year eh?

Just heard Ken Loach on the Daily Politics saying that in all his time as a member of Labour he'd never heard any other member express any anti-semitic or racist views."That's not to say those views don't exist in sociey".His experience as a Labour party member mirrors mine.

Quite clearly, Jeremy Corbyn's views on Palestine and the PLO are being used by some people, (like you and others), to cause mischief. It won't work.Labour now is quite clearly a government in waiting.

Perhaps you should have booked in at a fringe event at this years Labour conference...in order to hear what are being described as anti semetic views.

Is Tom watson also a mischief maker for saying that this shouldn't have happened?

https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-fringe-speakers-holocaust-remarks-miko-peled

How on earth after all the rows about anti semetism, has this been allowed to happen?

'The remarks by the Israeli-American author Miko Peled have renewed alarm about antisemitism in the Labour party. The party is set to pass a significant rule change on Tuesday to toughen its stance on antisemitism and other forms of prejudice, proposed by the Jewish Labour Movement and backed by Jeremy Corbyn and Labour’s national executive committee.'

sounds unlikely he is a party member and was speaking at a fringe event not part of the official conference. Has been rightly condemned by various senior members of the party and Watson said they will investigate how he was invited to speak. Unless he is known for those kind of statements then reacting after he had spoken is as much as you can do really.

This was indeed a fringe meeting, but:

  • It was advertised in the labour party official conference guide, and on their app.
  • It was chaired by a member of the party who spoke on the main platform earlier in the day.
  • The meeting became an anti-semitic diatribe where it was suggested that Jews and any Jewish Organisation be purged from the party. That included the JLM which has been affiliated to the labour party for longer than any of the attendees have been alive.
  • This happened the night before a vote on rule changes that would bring the labour party to where it should have been years ago in terms of dealing with anti-semitism.

The group that organised this meeting should be banned from advertising their meetings on official labour party literature. There should also be action against the chair of the meeting, firstly for standing by and allowing the meeting descend into anti semitism, and also because she's clearly stupid enough to not see the wider picture, and the context of the meeting.

Ironically the leader of Brighton Council (who is labour) is thinking about banning labour party conferences from Brighton unless they get a handle of anti-semitism!

Sky News

They are a shambles, and will remain so whilst ********* is around.
