Echo what others have said, Millwall aren't what they used to be. I went to their first home game of last season, with my Millwall mate, where they played Leeds. No trouble at all. Cracking atmosphere at times though. Made me jealous that we can't replicate it at The Hall.

Also worth adding, which should be simple common sense, if you go looking for grief, you'll find it.

One of my work colleagues is a Millwall fan, he said it's nowhere near what it used to be like. There's hardly, if any, trouble now. Which is why we should just treat this like every other away game.

Albeit West Ham are away to Man City that day so a few may choose the trip to the Den instead. But, I wouldn't expect any trouble.

With our away kit this year, the whole game may just look like an over-policed pitch invasion, with 10 stewards chsing 11 fans round the pitch.

I was thinking at last weeks home game , it looked like we had more stewards than was really necessary !

Surely it makes most sense to get off at Bermondsey tube station (Jubilee Line from Stratford/West Ham) and walk it down to the ground than go into London Bridge and back out again?

Most of us head for London Bridge for a few jars around Borough Market, as there is next to nothing around Bermondsey, and the walk to the New Den from there is less than savoury.

I see that 2 posts suggest we will take 1000+. I notice on the OS that we have only been give 1000 tickets. Can that be extended?

Completely agree with the above, thats what me and my mates do also, good food of all cuisines in Borough market) & loads of good pubs, good selection too, be it if you want your generic beer or some nice pubs that specialise in ales, also I would mention there is a bar in Vinopolis (which is a wine museum of sorts) if thats your thing.

If your in a group of 5 say, and a bit wary of doing the 10 minute walk from Bermondsey station, I would suggest taking a black cab from the long taxi rank outside London Bridge station and be dropped off right outside the stadium, It works out I think around £10 - £15 (depending on traffic) which would work out cheaper than each of you buying a train ticket from London Bridge, if you split the cab fare each way of course. This what we normally do & most likely will do again.

Got to admit I have had a chuckle at some of the comments on here. This is London in 2015, not the 1970s! I've lived in Bermondsey for 10 years and comments about being wary about the walk from the station etc are so wide of the mark it's funny. I've walked to the ground from my house to watch Southend at the Den more than once with no hassle at all, in fact the Wall fans like a natter on the way to the ground. For the beer drinkers, the Bermondsey beer mile of newish microbreweries is probably the best drinking of all 23 away trips this season. Sure, there are a few hardcore Wall boozers, but so long as you don't run into one singing Forever Blowing Bubbles you should be ok. And if you are still too scared then as people have pointed out there's a heap of great places round Borough Market by London Bridge station. Should be a fun day out. Plus they've lost 3 from 3 at home do far, so we might even see a win...

You have your chuckle mate. It still makes sense to be careful at any away match. We've seen from the case of poor Simon Dobbin that bad things can happen at any ground if your not careful and unlucky. I won't be scared at Millwall, largely because I'll be exercising good sense, and taking advantage of the nice safe route to the ground for away fans from South Bermondsey station. On which matter, if everything is so rosy down at The New Den, why provide away fans with a heavily policed and segregated walkway to the station?

Ssssh for god's sake man! Those of us who know about this don't want those microbreweries rammed with people on the 19th!

EDIT: Just remembered I posted about it already on the Away Travel forum. I am a fool.

I'm pretty sure the segregated exit from South Bermondsey station dates back from when the New Den opened back in the mid-90s. The trains aren't segregated though.

I don't want any Blues fans to run into trouble, if there are places to steer clear of then of course I would say. I'm just telling it how it actually is from someone who lives in the area, not how some people think it is based on reputation.

The last time I went to Millwall, they turned me into a newt ............................................ I got better though.

My last ever away game before moving to Oz was Millwall (7 years ago). Within a week I was here in Brisbane and attending my first ever A-League game. Got talking to some lads in the pub and I told them about my last game being Millwall away. They went off to get their mates who all gathered round to hear of my tales, I think they'd all seen a few too many hooligan movies.

When I told them how I went by train with my old man in his 60s and my Great Uncle in his late 70s, had a few beers and nice food at Borough Market before going to the game with no hassles at all......lets just say they were a tad disappointed.

Didn't we win at this ground before they did? Surely there can be a song about that...

Is it possible to buy tickets on the gate?
