Feels like a Labour Leadership candidate warm up to me. At an appropriate time in the future, obviously.
In terms of success in the polls and respect shown by peers - it sure does. But a month ago the press were peddling all the muck the Tories threw at him. A month is a very long time in politics.
Leadership contenders touted in the two main parties right now and over the two parties he seems the only strong candidate - may just be that he hasn't had time to **** up yet!

This is a debate about the EU not your favourite subject the Tories.

Now here are some facts if we remain then you will see big rises in house prices, which of course means the same for rents. More zero hours contracts. The one thing that will continue to go down as it has in the last ten years is of course wages ( in real terms).

I'm not so sure, surveyors are doing their best to "keep valuations real" at the moment and we're seeing lots and lots of down-valuations across the region and across the agents (Haart are doing particularly well on that front - their ploy to go out £30-£40k more than everyone else is working well!!!). The reason they've been rising so fast is the mass exodus from London boroughs where, for them, our prices in SS postcodes are very attractive.

If we remain in the EU then it is predicted that the average house price in London, currently £500,000, will rise to £1m by 2030.

The mass 'white flight' from the city means that the South East, including Essex will rise along with London.

Given that on average house prices double every 7 years I see that as an argument to remain since it seems staying in the EU will slow that down.

I think you need to check your figures. If that was true then the 3 bedroom end of terrace I bought in Redstock road in Southend, 28 years ago for £60,000 would now be worth £960,000 :nope:

Besides project fear have claimed house prices will fall if we vote leave. That will of course be enough to persuade some of the Champagne socialists to vote remain.

Can't afford to drink too much champagne but I do like the occasional glass of cava.

Does that qualify me as a "Champagne socialist?" :winking:

I catch on in the end!

Are you in or out or independence for Cornwall?

Bad result for you today........

50/50 re the result would have liked a game - but do not like Argyle or the city :nope:

Independence for Cornwall - I usually vote Mebyon Kernow these days

I'm still hoping that England votes out and the rest of the UK swings it back to remain. Definitely the funniest outcome.

I don't know if you have had your head in the sand but the Tories have made this debate very much about the Tories with both sides of the party accusing the other of lying and all of the prospective leaders of the party including the current one showing a lack of leadership. Even David Davis has gone on record as saying that none of the recent suspects will be the next leader.
Sorry but with misinformation from both sides we have learnt pretty much nothing that we didn't know a year ago. The Conservative Party imploding is the only news here.

No, you have abandon your life long political beliefs for your own selfish reasons, just like Jeremy. You are now a left wing Tory. One who says lets look after the workers, but when it comes to it you will always back big business, banks and the super wealthy.

Sounds like you Leave campaign people are getting a little desperate.

As always avoiding the debate because you actually don't agree with a lot of the EU but your reason to remain is based on the flimsy, short sighted notion that the Tories would have more power if we leave.

Your not the only leftie to say this, I have heard quite a few. Including Paul Mason on question time. What you are really saying is we don't think we can possibly win the next GE. So we would rather leave the power in Brussels than give it to the Tories.

I'm not avoiding any debate I merely pointed out with glee that the Conservative split is getting more and more like something they will struggle to recover from. I don't know why you see that as something not worth discussing. It is a major by-product of the referendum.

i have never said the Tories would have more power if we leave, I have said they would make a hash of the leave process. You should read what I actually write as you often get into a tizz about what you think I'm going to write.

Paul Mason said he is most likely to vote leave.

Your score in this round was 0/3

Just watched a programme with Laura Kuenssberg in which the Chancellor stated that there would be (not might be but would be) half a million jobs lost if we left the EU. Kuenssberg put it to him that the government was being irresponsible in letting the public have a vote if the implications were so catastrophic. He answered something like - we believe in giving the UK public it's say. This is utter bollocks and as far as I'm concerned, Cameron and Osborne have lost all credibility. This along with Cameron heaping praise on Sadiq Khan a couple of weeks or so after practically calling the man a terrorist sympathizer.
I don't like being taken for a schmuck and I hope Cameron and Osborne are both sufficiently damaged and leave politics after this.
