CP just tweeted:

"Phil Brown keen to sign another centre-back. Has a short-list of three. All play for Premier League under 21 teams."

I should think so too ....... although another youngster would not necessarily be on my shopping list as I think both Bolger and Thompson play better with an experienced (bald) head alongside them.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, PB would have my vote if he make a bid for Sokolik.

Yeah i'm a bit disappointed Miles Addison isn't a goer, think we need someone with a bit of experience

It's refreshing to see our club being more pro-active in the tranfer market for a change, instead of the usual last minute panic buying.

I'm guessing with the injuries he's had Addison is likely slow as hell now which is probably not what we want. Criteria - decent pace, decent height, can pass, left or both footed, prem club - who does that suggest maybe?

In response to my own question, a quick look on FM for possible candidates gave Dionatan Teixeira, Danny Barbir and Easah Sulaiman though I might think we wouldn't be looking at players with zero senior experience.

Another centre back, good. A shortlist of three youths with little/no first team experience, not good.

Thompson and Bolger have both played better alongside a more experienced player. If Adam picks up an injury (like when he did his hamstring) or just needs a rest, I won't feel too confident relying on three centre backs with a very limited amount of experience. Might be a good opportunity for Bolger to step up.

Teixeira was at Fleetwood earlier this season. I like the look of Barbir!

Makes sense - Carter-Vickers is 6ft 1in and his father was a basketball player in the United States before the family moved to Southend.

He is said to be very highly rated at Spurs....I've seen him play 2 or 3 times for their U-21 side and in all honesty he's looked a bit like Luke Prosser on roller blades.....but it's impossible to judge how good a player will be in League 1 from how they perform in U-21 games, it's completely different gravy.

Chelsea have some kid very highly rated that apparently they want to turf out for some experience too...can't remember his name, but I think it's one of the overseas kids they poached

So the Spurs being referred to is San Antonio Spurs, not to be confused with a little outfit in North London? :winking:
