Luvin' the fact that I follow a team who are 'languidly clinical' !!

Kind of justifies why we were so mind-numbingly boring to watch most of the season.

Interestingly Wigan spent 11 days in the relegation zone.

Some of those stats are quite good, but most seem to be a mish-mash of figures without proving very much.

Confirms we need to prioritise investing in the defence.

Edit: And also gives the impression that without Bentley, we could well have been relegated.

Another interesting one - the last time we lost five league matches in a row was in March 2003. Rob Newman arrested the slump with a 1-0 win over Orient, but it was too late to save his job.

Ah, but he did go on to become a 'Buzzlightyear-o-gram", putting smiles of children's faces at parties throughout the county!

We failed to score in 9 home games - is this a record? Conversely we didn't lose at home when we scored. Maybe we should put more emphasis on scoring rather than trying to keep clean sheets.

In 2003/4 we failed to score at home 9 times. In 98/99, it was 11 times. I haven't gone back further.

Looking at Burton, it's interesting to see that they have a very good defence, but are actually really wasteful in front of goal. From an attacking point of view they seem to work on the basis that if you throw enough **** at the wall some of it will stick.

We've conceded the second-highest number of high-quality chances in the division, that's the main worrisome thing.

Another question for all those knowledgeable Statto's out there, that I would like to know is:

This season we had 20 different Southend United goal scorers (in all competitions).. I thought it was unusually high in recent seasons, so could this possibly be a record? and if not, where does this season rank in an all time list?
