Best goalie

That was such a great spell for blues in the early to mid 90s . Sammy the reliable number 1 and Royce biding his time to take the Jersey from him. Two very very good goalkeepers.

Yep and look at the teams in our division we were facing, Man City, Wolves, Leicester... two really good keepers, Sammy was commanding, in amongst the strikers claiming the ball, Rolls Royce the agile shot stopper.

Itsssssssssss Sammmmmmmmmmy

Royce couldnt kick and Darryl was too short

Always remember a save Sansome made at Birmingham which was full-length and somehow he got down to it. Absolute core part of Webb's team.

wheres Harry Threadgold , Norman Uprichards, and Federici.

....... dead, dead and Bournemouth respectively.

Harry Threadgold's ashes were scattered over the Roots Hall pitch.

Norman Uprichard played just 12 matches (which was more than Federici played).

Interesting stats, those.

I guess some weighting is needed on the stats (e.g. level played at, quality of our back four in front of them, attacking/defensive minded set-up and so on), but some surprises towards the bottom.

Roycie went 1,103 minutes without conceding a goal in the Premier$hite - for Charlton Athletic. Charlton Athletic!

Let that sink in and then remember what an outstanding goalkeeper he was for us, how he beat out Sammy for a place in the side and how despite playing almost all his career with us in the Championship AND with such donkeys as Keith Dublin and Andy Harris in defence he still conceded well under 3 goals a game and you'll realise how special he was and how fortunate we were to have him.

And then vote for Darryl because he beat out Wyan Wobinson and Mark Prudhoe, had the luxury of the likes of Spencer Prior and Efe Sodje protecting him, he always waved at the fans and had a cute bum.

ps Roycie's save v Edinho

Not to mention Ronaldo and prime Rooney.

That said, I voted for Roycie, was always a massive advocate of starting him, even with the fantastic Sansome ahead of him. And unlike Napster, never let the kicking get in the way of my appreciation of his shot stopping skills.

In a different era and in a very different type of football the consistency and bravery (some might call it foolhardy but that was then) of Harry Threadgold saved this club again and again. Fittingly his ashes were scattered on our pitch on which he served with such distinction in rain, snow, ice in games which would not take place today. First choice goalkeeper for ten years.

Sammy had Powell, Prior, Edwards/Scully and Austin in front of him and still only 13th on the stats list

No, the poll is for "best" goalie.
...and not fattest. I have it from a former team member they used to nick his Jaffa cakes in the changing room - and he would go ballistic. Fastest he ever moved, said source, as he tried to recover them.
