President Donald Trump

The only good Nazi is a dead Nazi. That way they don't murder over 6 million Jews.

The best way to commit genocide is to call it 'regime change'. That way you have no guilt over killing thousands of women and children and no chance of any Nuremburg style trials after the event.

Evidence please?

All I've seen is a white nationalist drive a car into a crowd and kill one and injure 19. And then a black kid getting an absolute pasting by a gang of white nationalists. They came armed to the teeth and stashed weapons across the city - they were looking for a fight and I think the restraint shown by the counter-protest and the police to a certain extent stopped things from kicking off big time.

People (including Trump) are trying to draw a false equivalence about this. If neo-nazis and white nationalists are protesting, then I want the counter protest to be loud. These scum shouldn't be given the time of day.

It's clear there was violence on both sides, as there has been at all of these protests since Trump became president. Look at the way these thugs acted after the election. And it's not just in the US, 'anti-fascists' cause violence at almost every EDL/Britain First demo in this country.

Trump is right and the criticism of him for not calling out the white supremacists (which he has) is getting a bit tiresome, particularly coming from the same people who are scared to even mention Islam whenever there's an Islamist attack.

White supremacists and 'anti-fascists' are two sides of the same coin. Both are extremists who view everything from the point of view of race. Both hate anyone with different views to them. Both wave flags that symbolise the murder of millions of people. And both use violence and intimidation to enforce their views.

Don't forget 20 million people from the Soviet Union died in WW2.

Stalin did have a somewhat cavalier approach to troop deployment.

"See that German tank? Take this broom and run at it. And you. And you. And you. And..."

To be fair, that was an approach that did help us quite a lot.

So, Russian infantry, bristling with brooms, had a brush with Tiger tanks and managed to complete a clean sweep of the area.

I see Theresa May has now condemned Trump in equating fighting fascists and facism with actually being one. I never thought I'd say it, but she put some posters on here to shame.

Sadly, like Trump, it was too little too late.

May is between a rock (c*ck) and a hard place when it comes to Trump, but even then this is something that has to be immediately called out and condemned.

Many of them by Stalin - indirectly if not directly. He had most of his generals killed in the purges in the 30s and let's not forget the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics started the war as an ally of Hitler. The non-aggression pact signed with Germany led to Hitler's National Socialists invading Poland from the West and Stalin's Soviet Socialists invading from the East

It's quite true that at the beginning of the war Soviet troops were ill-equipped.There's no question ,however, that WW2 would have lasted much longer if Soviet Russia hadn't helped to defeat Nazi Germany.

Not "many" but hundreds if not thousands certainly.Btw,the army "purges" you're talking about started in 1937.

Anyone interested in the sacrificies the Russian people made in the war should read Svetlana Alexievich's wonderful "The Unwomanly Face of War" or see "Enemy at the Gates" about the siege of Stalingrad.

Anyone that's not interested can buy a copy of Suffolk Shrimper's book 'Roots To The 92'. Royalties from the book go to Alan Moody's collection for the remainder of August 17.

Not Many....How about close to 40,000 mainly officers, including 3 of his 5 Marshalls and most of the divisional commanders either executed or sent to the Gulag never to be seen again. The NKVD would act on even an anonymous tip off with torture and an execution.

After their successful carve up of Poland with Germany, Stalin decided to invade Finland in Late 1939. It became known as the winter war and ended in a peace agreement in March 1940. The Russians lost hundreds of thousands of men despite totally outnumbering the Fins in manpower and equipment.

No military commander could make a decision without consent from the NKVD. Stalin's secret police were so paranoid they would often execute the commander on the spot. Needless to say the invasion of Finland was a military disaster and thats what made Hitler so confident he could conquer Russia in 3 months.

At one stage Britain and France were going to send troops via the other Scandinavian countries to back the Fins so we could of ended up being at war with Russia as well as Germany. It was the League of Nations dithering (what's changed) that encouraged Hitler to invade Norway. Plus the Anglo French war council being just as useless set in motion Germany's plans for the 'Blitzkrieg' invasion of France just 2 months later.

So without the madness of 'Uncle Jo' then Hitler would have never sent 3m of his men off to Moscow in light summer clothing. So doesn't matter whether your extreme right or extreme left your just as dangerous and dare I say need braining.

P.S. In between the invasion of France and Russia, Britain did a rather good job which is why Hitler decided to turn his attention on Russia. I will be going to the cinema tonight to see Dunkirk, which is surely a must if your British.

Great chat here on WWII but - and I know I have been guilty here too - we need to bring this back on topic. Namely the 45th and current President of the United States of America.

You should know its a law of the internet that every thread ever created will eventually end up talking about Hitler.

Hmmm...
