Bit of context from those that might know better, before Payne left, I had a scout from Rotherham sit next to me who was there to watch him play, I forget the game, but Payne was on the bench...he said he was surprised at the way we deployed Mooney, as at his best (at Orient when scoring) he was deployed in a two man front line behind the main striker, so to deploy him as a lone striker was essentially setting him up to fail.
