Nile Ranger's Instagram account published what looks like a personal tribute to Chiek Tiote. This either means he's out on licence (which is good news) or he's smuggled a smartphone into prison (which is bad news if he gets caught)!

Not heard anything official in regards to an appeal. Perhaps there's isn't going to be one.

Perhaps he's on the run?

Some of the older posters on here may remember an episode of Porridge when the escapee was caught digging up Elland Road in search of buried treasure. Perhaps Nile will be caught digging up Roots Hall in search of Ron's infamous war chest.

Looks like MOJ are investigating Nile use of social media. If he has done it he could be in more bother.

As Napster said, it could be his agent or A.N. Other. You'd think if he HAS got hold of a mobile inside, he wouldn't be so dumb to use it so blatantly.

It'll definitely be curtains for him if his sentence is extended.

Has anyone from the club visited him in the clink ? If so , just use some savvy + tell the courts he asked them to access his account on his behalf. Nuff said .

When are we going to just sack off this oxygen thief?

How the likes of ranger get a 3 year deal is beyond me.

It's fairly easy in most cases to prove where messages were sent from now days so that would not work.

It's on BBC Essex now. Stated that it's being investigated and as it's illegal to use phones in prison there's a 2 year sentence. If found guilty. That goes with it as a deterrent.
Must be A N Other doing it for him as said.

any update on the Ranger situation? Like the transfer news it's all very quiet.

If the Club were going to release him they would have done so by now. Sure there are discussions behind the scenes about how he can get/keep fit, possibility of a transfer after a month maybe two to a prison with facilities, maybe even day release to attend some training. The flip side of punishment is supposed to be rehabilitation and nothing to be served by the system trying to screw a career that is the best chance of keeping him out of trouble.

Agree with this. It is in the interest of the prison and justice system that Nile gets back into rejuvenating his career. This is not to excuse his actions..they were deplorable. But IF we can keep him on track to see his character and maturity develop then the sentence for this crime... which is a white-collar crime...is best served in an open prison with the facilities available as you describe. No point in keeping him in with other unhelpful influences any longer than necessary.

do they still have probation offices .If so rather than destroy his chance of getting back into the swing of things as quickly as he can .Give him in the care of a local probation officer so he can train .But do not allow him to travel to the training camp in spain because if that was to happen he wont have got any punishment .He could also do community service for the rest of his sentence .

Southend on Sea Probation Office exists and is situated at 45 Victoria Ave, Southend-on-Sea SS2 6BA. It is on the ground floor of the old BT building underneath a whole heap of luxury flats. Nice and near RH, so would be ideal for Nile. I've never truly understood who would want to buy a luxury flat which had a probation office complete with queue at it's base, but there you go!
