Essex CCC 2017

Well done Essex, crowned 2017 unbeaten County Champions with a massive 248 points.

Essex 2017 stats

Champions go season unbeaten

The batting and bowling figures for Essex in 2017 show why we dominated

Batting

Alastair Cook - 667 runs at 66.70
Dan Lawrence - 761 runs at 44.76
Nick Browne - 952 runs at 43.27
Tom Westley - 561 runs at 43.15
Ryan ten Doeschate - 659 runs at 41.18

Bowling

Mohamad Amir - 14 wickets at 13.50
Sam Cook - 17 wickets at 16.58
Jamie Porter - 75 wickets at 16.80
Simon Harmer - 71 wickets at 19.40
Neil Wagner - 30 wickets at 35.63

Those bowling stats are extraordinary.

To have one player with an average under 20.00 is something, but FOUR!:happy:

Four bowlers under 20; five batsmen over 40. That sounds like a wining formula.

Apparently only Yorkshire lost more matches to test duty as well.

So, there we have it.

Another county season over.

Hampshire just avoid being relegated two seasons in a row.

Last season's county champions are relegated, while this year's county champions weren't even in division one last season.

Notts and Worcester are promoted, so a couple of nice grounds for next season.

Durham are leaking players like there's no tomorrow.

... And Notts win both one-day cups.

All in all, it's been emotional!:happy::happy:

It's been a wonderful season, my 60th supporting my beloved county and the very best. Thank you ECCC, it's been a blast. Let's do it all again in 2018.

I noticed that we won the league by a whopping 72 point advantage......We have to go all the way back to 1979 for any team to beat that record....and we all know what mighty county that was don't we! :winking:

See Middlesex should hear this week about their slow over rate appeal, seems the crossbow incident will be looked at

Would be good to have them back as local to watch, but gutted for the team that has to drop down, can see this dragging on if Middlesex successful

In theory, Somerset would go down, as the next cab off the rank, I believe.

Middlesex lose their appeal on the 2 point penalty for a slow over rate. So remain relegated.
