I've noticed this season we seem to be retaining the ball less which is putting us under undue pressure.

Rotherham moved the ball around for fun against us as did Newport at times.

It's a simple pass and move game but at times our passing has not been good or trying for the long or killer ball to little affect. Our movement on and off the ball has been really poor.

I would really like us to hold the ball and make teams work a lot harder.

Comes with confidence. Trouble was against Newport we had so much after the Blackburn game that we just thought we could turn up and the first twenty minutes we were knocking it about (to little effect), doing flicks etc and generally trying to be pretty but losing it alot also. Once we realised it wasn't working and actually Newport weren't going to roll over we went abject - very much like England against Iceland. The fragility continued on saturday at Rotherham.
The only way to move on from this is to go back to basics against Plymouth - treat it like we are the underdog and go out and win all the personal battles.

Well, following our lamentable display last Saturday I think we are the underdog against a buoyant (and very tall) Plymouth team.

Think we're doing as well as we can with the personnel at our disposal at the moment. Ranger is someone who can make the ball stick, so that will improve things once he's back. We should also be playing much better football once Woody is back as he'll be our main creative outlet and we'll want the ball on the floor and at his feet. We've also lost Atkinson, a player who favoured pass and move, replacing him with McG who wants to take people on and run at his man.

I would love us to get back to our pressing possession game, but not sure that suits the players we've got fit at the moment. Nothing worse than possession for possession's sake.

Comes from needing a strong midfield as opposed to a Championship level CM who doesn't want to play here and another who has the heart but lacks the quality. Again, we need to sell Lenny and purchase/sign two CH/L1 quality midfielders..... Wordy may be up to the required level, but we need cover.

You make it sound so easy. It's August and the season's already started. We're not gonna have quality CMs falling over themselves to sign for us in what is a key area of the team. If we're serious about promotion this season then we need a settled side.
