What's happened over the summer to some of our players? McGlashan and White have been excellent while Cox and Ferdinand have been very poor. McGlashan terrorised their deference today while Cox looks overweight and on his heels. White won nearly every 50/50 while Ferdinand didn't even attempt to win a 50/50.

I don't think it's any coincidence that it's the two players you'd label as undroppable who are underperforming. AF and Cox must feel very very comfortable at the moment, with little to no competition for their places in the starting XI. Maybe they need competition to keep them motivated.

Ferdinand was very poor today. Seemed to have had his confidence knocked after last week and was up against similar opposition in tall, strong and quick forwards. Fingers crossed normal service will soon be resumed.

Cox had a slow start last season and this year too to date, but he is doing a lot of work dropping into deeper roles that Wordsworth would usually occupy.

Anton looks like he is carrying an injury but we can't replace him as we collect injured CB's

Thought mcglashan had a reasonable game and was a handful for their defence and then he gets taken off when MAF was on his knees and remains on....don't get it....another two points lost

Don't agree with the Cox view, and he should have not been substituted in my opinion today as he was linking up with Mcglashen .What he creates for other players with great touches, and the way he draws defenders and creates space ...and he will score goals. As for Anton not up to last year standard yet, could be carrying injury again what he brings to the team is more than you see on the ball.

Two comments about Cox and Ferdinand,

When I saw Cox at the MTBD he looked is serious shape, so i am suprised at the 'overweight' comment. He just needs a goal, and service is key - and the key is Wordsworth IMHO. Similarly he works best with Nile up front, am sure goals will come in time. No need to panic.

Regards to Anton, I feel he seems to have lost the focus he had last season, lets not forget he lost his mother very recently - it's been widely publicised that this has had a major impact on his brother Rio, quite possibly Anton's is still reeling from his loss. I could be way of the mark, but maybe he needs time out. Problem is we also need Keirnan and Turner back beforehand.

The current goal famine should not be a surprise. Over long careers, neither Cox nor Fortune have been prolific goalscorers, averaging about one goal in four and five games respectively. Ditto Robinson. Ranger's scoring record is better, but over a much smaller number of games so assuming he gets back in the side it will be interesting to see how many goals he gets. The lack of any goal threat from midfield underlines how crucial Wordsworth's contributions were last season, and how much we need his creativity in midfield, apart from his goals.

whilst technically true, it cant be ignored that cox and fortune have spent large parts of their career playing at higher levels.

Wordsworth is the biggest miss, most successful teams have a goalscoring midfielder in their line up, his goal tally was a major reason why we had such a good season.

On Saturday it didnt matter who was up front because the service was poor.

Nearly every cross went to the keeper, the best time for a through ball to Cox in the second half Leonard failed to pick him out, and both of their reactions showed it.

Midfield last season was weak creatively and at moment Ive not seen any improvement which is a worry with Kightly in there.

McGlashans was our best threat and pace was causing problems but his final ball is rubbish. Even the goal came from a cross he couldnt hit our own player with

Wordsworth will improve things Im sure, but how long he will last before his next injury is anyones guess.

I do hope this will stop people slagging off Wordsworth when he has the odd bad game. He does seem an age coming back though, so hopefully he wont breakdown again.

Also we never really got going last year until Ranger was fit and playing.

What career goalscoring record should our targets have and how many strikers in the division average that?

It's not an awful start considering the key players we have out at the moment. There is definitely a creativity void in midfield but I do wonder how effectively the midfield will function when the more attacking Wordsworth comes back in now we have lost the industry of Atkinson

I recall one particular incident when McGlashan-shortly before Brown took him off!-again raced clear of his man and swept a perfect cross across the face of the goal.Fortune' who is an excellent target man but NOT a goalscorer stood watching just inside the penalty area.

At the age of 36 and while playing and getting a physical battering as a target man, it's quite a lot to ask of him to also be the furthest man forward after starting the move off.

That particular one was a misunderstanding, as mcglashan played the ball quite early, while fortune was obviously not expecting it early.

Key point there is..."at the age of 36". We need some legs!

A 36 year old striker up front every game would be superb, but his name needs to be Zlatan, not Marc...
