Tories issued a 3 line whip to keep the Windrush documentation out of public view. Bearing in mind that they really really need to be seen to be dealing with this fairly this is a very harsh move.

I think we can safely conclude that as May was Home Secretary for 6 years they are definitely hiding something that would lead to her having to resign as PM.

As Dianne Abbott said:-“After losing her human shield with the resignation of Amber Rudd, the architect of this scandal, Theresa May, ordered her MPs to vote to cover up the truth of her involvement.”

Windrush has been a massive scandal - very disappointed that the Government's hollow promises to make amends have fallen at the first hurdle and disappointed that BBC 10 o'clock News feel that the vote to keep these details secret is not worth a mention in their broadcast.

lead to her having to resign as PM.

She will not resign as PM for the simple reason that no one wants to replace her. Even the Labour Party will shy away from demanding her resignation and potential GE.
She accepted the poisioned chalice and will have to steer us all through Brexit and will have to leave due to the blame that will be put on her by either (or both) sides with the Brexit fallout and aftershocks.

No one will give a **** about windrush in three weeks .. dead woman walking can now stagger on till October when the votes in parliament get ugly again. She is walking a lot further than anyone thought possible

Have to agree.... come July, Windrush will be nothing more than chip paper. Just the same as no one remembers or talks about the previous Secretary Of Defence Michael Fallon's resignation over sexual harassment scandal. (usually by finding another scandal caused by a rival party in order to bury it).

All political parties have the uncanny knack of sweeping bad news under the carpet pretty damn quickly.

Bang on the money. You have today a general public spoon fed instant news from a multitude of outlets and the vast majority are only too happy to move on and get fed the next ready meal scandal and forget the last. Today's news is tomorrows chip paper. That saying is more true today than it ever has been in history.

We absolutely love seeing our politicians get a good kicking for misdeeds or mistakes made but nothing sells more papers or gets more mouse clicks than the next big scandal and we lap them up and move on.

Teresa May will not be walking away any time soon and she won't be ousted from office. Shortly after we leave the EU for good she will announce job done and resign from office herself.

Agree with the posts above, for a "Dead Woman Walking", she's walking an awful long way and Labour are, in reality, not doing an awful lot to stop her.

"Neck and neck" in the national vote count, however you look at it, at this time and in the current political climate is a poor position for Labour, who should have stormed ahead in the local elections.

I never thought I'd say this, but well done to the Government in cutting the largest bet to £2 on fixed odds gambling machines. See, it must feel good to put people before profits for a change?

Oh I don't know. The big gambling companies are saying they expect to close 100s of shops and put thousands out of work.

I suspect around a third of the UK's 9,000-ish betting shops will close over the next three-four years as a result of this.

FOBTs account for well over half of shop profits these days - they provided a lot of shops with a stay of execution as the reasons for regular sports bettors to bet in shop rather than online have been decreasing for the last 18 years.

Bookmakers have already had the Golden Goose. They've all made Millions out of FOBT. Maybe they should concentrate on being proper Bookmakers from now on. They've been allowed to get away with murder for too long. For example, if you go in a Bookmakers and ask for £100 bet on a horse at odds of 3/1 or bigger, most of them will say you can have about 40 quid on that horse. But, you are allowed to put Thousands in the FOBT with no limit, despite all that responsible gambling nonsense. Also, they've been doing unfair practice in the way they give free money away to get people to open an account. Some free money has to be wagered something ridiculous like 40 times, meaning it ends up not being free money. The other thing is they ban all winning accounts as you are on trial from your first bet. They of course never ban losing accounts or mug punters. They don't ban people that only play on their online casino or slots, as they know they won't win in the end even if they get off to a good start. Also, half the punters play the slots on the FOBT, and the lowest bet per spin is 20 pence, it doesn't sound a lot but that can be 20 pence every 5 seconds. A friend of mine lost £600 playing those slots at 20 pence per spin in about 3 hours. So I hope they lower the stakes for them as well.

That ship has sailed - thanks to Betfair margins have eroded massively, making it ever less viable to run a shop business based purely on sports betting. I've seen people on Twitter hoping bookmakers will return to the 'good old days'. Like 9% tax on all bets and no singles on non-televised football?

They have definitely been far too slow to step up to the plate there. So much FOBT activity in shop is blatantly money laundering. PS - Coral and Ladbrokes will lay to lose up to £1,000 on all races shown live on ITV/ITV4.

That's only on casino to be fair (albeit still shocking). Rare for the turnover requirements on a new sports betting account to be more than 1x. A sports site that tries to pull a trick like that won't survive for long.

Some do, some don't. I'm definitely up on some of my accounts that are still open. For every punter who moans loudly about 'Bet £3.65' or 'Sly Bet' there are plenty who get on just fine. Others are indecently quick to pull the shutters up. But the fact that they will gladly accommodate anyone no matter what on their gaming platforms does stick in the craw

I am surprised speed of play has been such a small part of the debate; I think that should have been looked at more closely. I hope your friend was able to seek help, that sounds like a gambling problem.

Coral and Ladbrokes will lay to lose up to a £1000 on TV races like you mentioned, but only when it suits at the Managers discretion, and after answering many questions about the punter asked by head office on the phone once a bet is requested. If the Manager thinks the punter is a shrewdy, getting hot information, or a known winning punter, the bet won't be laid. Also, Ladbrokes and Coral have merged.
Yes the 40 times wagering is on the bookmakers online casino's, sometimes it's 25 times wagering. The free money or bets can carry a 3 or 5 times wagering with the stake not won if the bet wins. This is purely to get punters signed up and to hook as many mug punters as possible.
My friend never had a gambling problem until he started playing these FOBT. Now he has been ruined by these machines like Thousands of others. If the amount bet on the slots on these aren't reduced, then the bookmakers will still get a nice earner, along with the Government. Maybe that's why they will probably not lower the slot stakes.

Not to mention the Tories going over and above the weak recommendations in regards to the cladding of buildings after Grenfell. I'm not used to this, it's disturbing. I hope tomorrow the bring in a law about sacrificing your first born to balance the books.
