This may be a little off topic. However, lack of pace isn't the whole problem. Lenny who made up for lack of pace in the centre of our defence last year is being left exposed by the balance of the midfield. Atkinson or that type of player is being badly missed. Good a player as Lenny is he can't be everywhere. The quality of ball to the forwards is poor and therefore generally comes back far too quickly. You defend as a whole team and on Saturday even the shape was all over the place. Wright who should have been on the right was too often dragged into the centre. Ferdinand is no slower than last year and don't forget what a huge miss Coker is at the moment.

Wright wasn't dragged into the centre.

He kept wandering there (to little effect) because he prefers to play in the middle and clearly has yet to have the meaning of the word 'shape' drummed into him.

Probably because he's gonna have to play Saturday and we're not gonna risk him pulling up today

I'm guessing that he has lost the captaincy. If so, no bad thing. Saturday's sending off was in inexcusable and required a stern punishment.

I think you could be right, the previous tweet from CP is about Brown discussing which players within the team have the qualities to be captain.

That might just be in reference to needing a captain while he's suspended, rather than wanting a new one long term.

I said in the pre-match thread v Donny he needed to sit this one out... It doesn't happen often but I was right! Yay!

Lenny and White at CB - it could be worse.

'I victimised Adam out of the blue last season for no good reason so watch it.'

Bbc essex reported that the Ferdinand Brown conversation was a disciplinary re the Red card
The more I thought no about this the more angry I am. It was so selfish of him to do that. It's not going to achieve anything positive. If he feels he needs to make his views known to gen take the time to learn how to do it without fear of being sent off. Added to a that he knows our way injury situation . Passion doesn't equal getting sent off

He knew what he was doing. Took himself out the firing line for a few games
