Hi everyone,

i found this forum while looking for some pics and/or memorabilia on my friend Tony Bentley. Tony lives and works in a pub in our hometown of Kentville, Nova Scotia. Tony recently celebrated his 78 birthday and I was trying to gather some old pics of his playing days. If anyone has anything of Tony’s playing days, please scan and send to me.

Regards,
John

Welcome to the site - you could do better than point Tony in the direction of this which has just recently been set up - there will no doubt be lots of stuff forthcoming over time.

There's also a few threads on the Zone here with photos from the past, might need to have a bit of a scan through though, this one in particular might be good

Please send him our regards from all here on the Zone
Is and always will be in my best Southend Utd team ever

I will talk to Tony about access and help if I can. Not sure of his computer tech skills. I have helped him a few times with his phone. Will be sure to fill hm in and assist in anyway. He’s a great guy.

I think he is a legend in our town also. Many friends. I have found some old team pics and will print off for him. He may have already seen most. Will pass on regards from this forum and maybe in the near future, get him online.

As long as we have an email address we can keep in touch that way - this can be sent to the SUEPA email at suepassoc@gmail.com.

Please pass on our best regards.

If I have read everything correctly Tony Bentley was a Town Councillor in Kentville, Nova Scotia for seven years before retiring and he was one of the original managers at the King’s Arms Pub that opened in 1985.

Tony still works a small amount at Kings Arm pub. He has many friends in town. He is still looks just the like the picture you posted.

Great man Tony, knew him quite well in the early days due to my job and later when he had the kiosk on Marine Parade. Proud to have spent time with him. So pleased to hear he is going strong.

Fond memories of Tony Bentley from way back in the day when I started my FA coaching badge. He regularly attended the sessions led by Geoff Hudson offering advice and guidance to all of us youngsters. We also had Trevor Roberts in amongst the rest of us doing the course. Kickabouts at the end always had Trevor insisting on playing at centre forward.
