Camano not offered deal by Shrimpers

Good.

Only saw him against Canvey and he was unimpressive to be kind to him. Half decent in the air, and a threat from set pieces but when your 6ft 4" thats the least you expect. To slow, bad positional sense, and generally not good enough.

Would have loved to have signed Jean/Juan, but I'm guessing his no longer at the Club if he didn't play against Chelmsford. Would have made for a good back up centre half.

Who's getting worried now then? We've had nearly 3 weeks since the transfer window opened and we've had 4(?) Defenders on trials, yet decided none of those were any good. Just under three weeks until the season starts and we're in the same position we were 2 months ago.

Still at least Franno can do a job at CB

I'm not worried as yet.

I actually thought De Vries looked decent, and Jean/Juan was good as well, but if Tilson deems this players as not good enough then I'm happy enough.

What would have been worse would have been going out and panicing and signing some of the defenders we have had on trial, without having them on trial, then realising they weren't up for it.

Agreed, he didnt look at that what so ever....

but is it just me or are triailest a complete waste of time for us.... i cant remember the last trailest we signed? someone help.....

Thank feck for that.

Although it is slightly worrying how Tilly gets talked into trialing some of these useless foreign imports by agents....

So you think that finding out if a player's good enough before deciding whether to offer them a contract is "a complete waste of time"? Interesting.

...... not at all, but with time running out, we should be trialling players with a sporting chance of earning a living playing football.

... really ? I guess that's one of the drawbacks of playing against lowly teams. De Vries had significant defensive shortcomings; a bit of a disadvantage for a full back.

To be honest i think its quite worrying that we seem unable to get a decent centre back to come to Roots Hall, that any history in league football. But then it possible that Southend, with hardly any money at all, what something for nothing.

Yes, as I said at the time he wasn't tested out defensively, but what he did going forward looked good enough and was worth another look. Must admit I only saw him play against Witham, and missed the Wakering game.
