Brexit negotiations thread

Have you considered going into Stand up comedy?

Ha! My account is supported by Alex Nunns The Candidate.TBF he does mention a couple of Labour supporting stand up comedians for their importance in JC's total domination of social media in the last GE.In fact AN argues that the election result could have been different if Labour had sunk resouces into a dozen key marginals instead of opting for a defensive stragey.

You will be aware that according to the conventional media, Labour were headed for a landslide defeat 0f '83 type proportions in last year's GE.That didn't happen. What else is there to get?

Yes, of course, what I don't understand is why you aimed that at me when clearly I was waving my finger at the tiresome oik that is Rigsby.

Perhaps you can explain why so many younger voters opted for Jeremy Corbyn in last year's snap election? IMO,it's because he offered them some hope for their future, which doesn't seem to be available elsewhere (especially from the Tories).

"Every intelligent boy of 16 is a socialist. At that age one does not see the hook sticking out of the rather stodgy bait". George Orwell.

Labour is quite clearly a government in waiting now.Whenever the next GE is called,Labour under Jeremy Corbyn will win it.

Er, we were discussing Brexit and voters changing their minds e.g. young socialists changing their colours later in life. Not entirely sure where you're going with this.

My point is quite simple. You were the one talking about young people changing their minds. Not me.My guess,FWIW,is that any Brexit settlement is likely to rebound against Mrs May's Tory government. Also given the slow down in wage increases since 2008 and the near impossiblity for young people to get on the housing ladder is just storing up a demographic timebomb, which will eventually lead to the Tories losing office at the next general election, whenever it is.

Over the last few days project Brexit has taken a nasty turn with a handful of MPs belittling the Good Friday Agreement having realised it is an inconvenience to the Brexit negotiations. Pretty disgusting that peace in Ireland is seen as disposable.

What positives have the Labour party come up with?
Yr funny. Leaving the EU - referendum started by Cameron who went on to quit as soon as he realised what he had done. Remainer May then took on the mantle but tried to exclude Parliament from the process and wasted time, money and respect by taking on two court cases in an attempt to exclude Parliament. She then called an election 2 years into this Parliament and put her vision for Brexit at the centre of her campaign. She lost the majority and had to cut a deal with the anti Good Friday Agreement DUP.
A year and a half into the process the EU negotiators say they are still not aware what May wants from a deal and in fact she is still negotiating with her own cabinet to decide what the UK wants from a deal. Everything that seemed to have been agreed from round 1 subsequently seemed in doubt again but I think the £40 to 50bn divorce bill is still on the cards but strangely Boris Johnson is still claiming we will get £350m a week back despite the fact not one person in the UK believes that any more. 3 empty speeches this week and some leading Brexiters have started to trash talk the Good Friday Agreement as it is something they don't know how to work round.

Your reaction? 'something about Labour'

Here you go, obviously the state that the Tories leave the negotiations in will effect Labour policy but this is something to be getting along with:

Yes we have all heard your blame the Tories, is so unfair stuff before.

But rather than a standard meaningless list of what Labour won't accept.......Can you tell us all one positive thing that Labour think will come from the democratic decision from the majority of the British public who, in case you need reminding, voted out.

are you complaining that I'm blaming the people that are to blame? Surely that is the sensible thing to do as they are to blame.
I'm sorry if you find a truncated list of ways in which the Tories have let down both Remain and Leave voters but I'd be surprised if you can highlight any of those points not being valid.

So you could say that those who didn't vote are to blame for this sorry mess.
I think it's fair to say there was a lot of people complacent about the result.
I voted but I didn't campaign, felt it was an internal Tory disagreement and a distraction from the real work that needed to be done. I didn't think there was any real danger of a Leave result.
