I see Gills have signed Josh Rees from Bromley. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44459498

Always hoped we might have signed him, local lad (went to Southend High for Boys) and played for Arsenal youth team and then Notts Forest before dropping down to non-league. Still only 24 so could do well for them. Hey ho - hopefully CP has got a few even better CMs lined up for us - we're looking very light in that department since the departure of Timlin, Wright and Wordsworth (and Mantom returning at the end of his loan), compared to the end of last season.

Didn’t we have him on trial before? Possibly under Sturrock.

As expected, Sonny Bradley has signed for Luton Town.

As expected but still annoying. Once it become clear that other clubs were in for him I didn’t think we’d have much change in signing him, still to lose out to a recently promoted club is disappointing regardless of how much money they have to throw around. I bet Plymouth fans are ****ed that he has seemingly took a step down after their fine end to last season and obvious progression.

I think we're better spending money strengthening in other areas - especially now Turner has re-signed. Don't forget Hendrie still has another year too so we currently have on contract: Demetriou, Bwomono, White, Turner, Kiernan, Ferdinand, Kyprianou, Hendrie and Coker.

I don't think signing more defenders is a priority!

I'd like to sign a young centre-half who was dominant in the air*, but I imagine the maths only works out if we can off-load Ferdinand to Swindon.

I'd certainly have central midfield and centre-forward as priority.

*Unless we have one coming through the youths

Agree with you 100%, but I guess we are where we are with the budget and so may have to manage with what we've got unless we can get a couple of those I've listed off the books (without having to pay too much to get rid of them!)

No idea whether we're interested in him or not but since his name has cropped up on this thread - Swindon are rumoured to be after Dervite.

The recent stats showed that we paid £226,000, the fourth highest in League 1, in agents' fees. I wonder if this "history" is now causing a problem and agents are expecting SUFC to pay high fees?

On a lighter note...notice that Blackpool have signed Dodoo from Rangers....logic says he's either *****, or, extinct

My chief concern is that the longer we wait, the more we run the risk of players having a good World Cup, and pricing themselves out of our market - then even the Eastwood money may not be enough to sign them.
