Swindon enter the Mulgrooo Race

C'mon Ron pay them what they want, the lad is class. Get him and Sito and we will have some decent competition in the full back areas.

as it has already been said in the other thread 150k is a good price for him, if we're willing to pay 200k for paynter and foran, i dont see why we cant pay 150k for mulgrew.

Gonna have to match the asking price i reckon.

What amazes me is they spent 150k on harrold and more on Paynter but they argue about that for Mulgrew who has proved he is quality at the hall.

Allegedly 150K!

i hope we get him

Swindon have been busy in the transfer market and could be a decent side when the season starts.

Haha, come on, seriously?

No its true, check out the above link to see 'Wiggy's' thoughts on the matter. She is pretty well respected on here and gets things spot on.

P.S In case my first attempt at linking a page doesnt work, here is what Wiggy had to say

"I am so angry with Tilson on three counts of very poor judgement!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Replacing Hammel with a bloke that can't defend, Mulgrew, unforgivable!

3 Blatant managerial mistakes that will spoil our season in a crap league when nicely poised for the play offs, sorting out the gaps in the defence would help as well but that's another story!

Quality :D

I have to confess I was a little disappointed when Stevie Hammel left and we got Mulgrew but he has proven his class and was part of a team that turned the season around and got us to the playoffs. He is definitely worth the £150k price that is being rumoured.

Swindon Town boss Maurice Malpas has launched a bid to land Wolves defender Charlie Mulgrew.

The Town boss had Mulgrew as a player during his tenure in temporary charge of the Scotland Under-21 side last year and has already contacted the Championship club over the possibility of setting up a deal.

The Daily Press understands that Mulgrew, 22, is keen on a move to the County Ground and that Malpas is preparing to table an offer in the region of £125,000 that would include various add-ons and clauses.

Swindon look set to see off competition for the full-back's services from Southend United - where he spent three months on loan last season - and Aberdeen.

Southend cooled their interest in the former Celtic defender over concerns about the fee.

he is very good on the ball no doubt, but not the best defender which IMO should be the first priority, excellent set piece delivery too.

Originally there were rumours that Wolves wanted £350k for him which is money we just can't afford to pay for a defender. It was then said sometime last week that the fee was £150k with us wanting to get it down to £100k but I can't see us missing out on the player for the sake of £50k. Something else must be going on here or the asking price must be higher than rumours would suggest I think.

Indeed, I cannot believe we would not want to pay £150K for him.

I'm looking forward to finding out the truth in all of this as for the moment it's all hearsay. I genuinely do not believe that we would baulk at paying £150k for the chap, based on our previous history of signings/fees/wages, etc.

There has to be more to this than meets the eye.

ps: He's rubbish anyway.

;)
