Ref Watch Friday's Top of the Table Clash

Mick

The Ref Aficionado.
A Friday night match when either team could go top of the table; that hasn't happened for a while.

The man in charge is the excellent and understated refeee, Mr Jarnail Singh who makes his 7th visit to Roots Hall. The first 5 were all home wins but he blotted his copybook last January when we lost 1-0 to Bristol Rovers; he was in no way to blame. He has yet to referee a Southend away match for some reason.

A referee who likes nothing more than to let the players get on with the game commanding respect with a quiet word here or there rather than the ostentatious approach of some referees. He is not at his best if matches get nasty, but to his credit most of his don't.

Richard Beevor from Norfolk and CJ Berry will be waving the flags and Ian Cooper from Kent will be holding up the numbers.

Didn't Beevor make the football league list as a referee himself some time back Mick? Completely correct about Singh though, not one to flash cards everywhere which is a refreshing change nowadays. Always thought Singh could make it to become a select group referee but it never happened.

Oh dear, I have lost count of the number of times in the last few seasons we have had home matches to go top of the table, and lost them.

My monies on Brighton then!

This is massive - our biggest game of the season so far.

Ron Martin should slash ticket prices to ensure a full house.

I've seen Singh ref us before - he's top quality, from what I can recall. At the risk of sounding cheesey, hopefully this will mean that football will be the winner on Friday night!

:)

Oh dear Matt .. Cheese avoidance mission failed i'm afraid :p

can't wait to see old monty back at the hall! (not offensive :) )

"we are top 'the league, say we are top 'the league!" can't wait!

Whenever Mr Singh is at the Hall he always tries to let the game flow, so I'm hoping for a good spectacle, with the result going in our favour of course. Mind you if it's garbage and we sneak a win, I'd take that too!!!!!!!

I was going to post something along the lines of "let's just hope that now we've built him up as a great ref that he doesn't do something like give a stupid red or cost us the game!" but I didn't want to tempt fate.

It seems that fate is now a mind-reader.

What a disgraceful performance from this referee...!

Moussa's tackle wasnt even worthy of a yellow, and really he should have sent Revell off early on for a shocking two footed lunge on their keeper..

He didnt keep the game flowing, he let the brighton players kick us all over the pitch, and then pulled us up for everything....

He has completely ruined my weekend !!
