Bilel Mohsni has posted on Facebook that he should be back for the home match against Aldershot on Saturday week. Great news if he makes it:happy:

I spoke to him at the Trust's bowling night last Thursday & he said that he expected to be back in about two weeks. He did say that this depended on a medical verdict (specialist) being positive & being allowed to step up his training & join in full training with the rest of the squad. He was very positive about this happening & judging by his bowling, he didn't look or act injured!

One interesting thing he did mention was the injections that he had to increase the size of his cartilage, whilst back in France. These last about two years. I could have done with them a few years back!!

So now the question of where he plays. If we don't bring anyone in this week then I'd be inclined to give him a run up front. We've got cover at the back but not so much up top.

And, with any luck, this lengthy absence has caused bookies to forget all about him.

We need several clean sheets in the last 9 games to give us any hope of back dooring the Play-Off's. IF he is ready, then he needs to drop in at the back in place of Coughlan in my opinion.

Has anyone got the stats on how many we have conceeded with and without him?

I think that would be harsh, Coughlan and Barker have been a tremendous back pairing and personally, much as everyone would love to see him play, I don't want Bilel rushing back and doing further damage. Keep him on the bench for a while, that way he can come on up top and scare the sh** out of the opposition in the latter part of games! This would also allow his fitness levels to increase, while also affording us some cover at the back if necessary.

No they haven't.

How does sitting on the bench improve his match fitness?

League games only.

With Bilel: 17 games, 18 goals conceeded. 6 clean sheets. 1.06 goals per game.

Without Bilel: 20 games, 28 goals conceeded. 2 clean sheets. 1.40 goals per game.

Is BM out of contract at the end of the season or was his contract extended a a few months ago?

Given a bumper deal in October/November, was he not?

That's what I thought but couldn't find any link to it - so started to think I had imagined it!

Yep.

Given a new 2 year deal. He is contracted until summer 2012 I believe. With the option of extending this to summer 2013!

If fit,I would like to see him in central defence, with Barker moving to left back, which is our problem position.

Doesn't have the pace any more. We saw that at the start of the season.

To be honest though Ayrshire none of our left-backs have any pace whether they're currently fit or not! The difference with Barker is that he's an excellent defender whilst all our other left-backs are let downs in that department. Moving Barker to LB would allow us to keep Coughlan in (and he excels alongside a pacy centre-half to compliment him like Bilel) and re-introduce Mohsni, now to me that back 4 looks strong defensively. If we had a LB with any pace I'd be inclined to agree with you and presumably Mohsni would replace Coughlan but we don't so I'd like to see Barker at LB with Mohsni taking his place in the middle.

I think they have, and many others I've heard saying the same, and what I mean is building it up by putting in sub appearances.

I don't have a problem with them individually, but I don't see in what way at all they are a good pairing. They don't complement each other as they have the same strengths (experience and reading of the game) and weaknesses (lack of pace) and our defence has looked anything but secure in recent weeks.

Good Stats, and relates to 15 goals over a 46 game season. Which is probably worth at least 10 points.
