Two contractors named...

Sounds like Bowmer will build Sainsbury's and McLaren the stadium then?

Just another complication!

Having a look at McLaren, it doesn't look like they have much experience in stadia construction. Wonder why none of the big boys in the stadium construction field (Buckingham group for example who built the Amex) didn't either tender and/or get shortlisted??

How do you know they didn't tender??

you just know that the below is going to come back and haunt us at some point

One industry source familiar with the project said: “Logic and common sense dictates that it should all be one job. But it doesn’t look like it will turn out that way.”

re the keenest price comment , what does that actually mean-- serious question ? I mean of course he wants it done cheaply, but does this mean that , for example the contractors will use cheap fixtures and fitings to meet a price , rather than a spec? Are we sacrificing quality for price?

As I understand it, the money is going to be made with the other parts of the development (retail both at Fossetts and Roots Hall etc) and so it is in his interest to keep the stadium price down to the absolute minimum and its likely quality will be sacrificed for price.

The keenest price in laymans terms means,no over extras payed even though you have carried out the works, the lowest priced sub-contractors,not always a guarantee of good workmanship, half of Poland lodging in Sunny Southend, and of course the 4 month delay of handover due to non payment of invoices by the QS because the budget is shot and the subbys ain't playing ball no more, christ i've been in the game to long.
