So the spin re contractor being named in 2 wks time, building starting by late spring was all lies ? if Sainsburys were not interested in completing the purchase of Prospects.
HOW THE HELL IS RON MARTIN ALLOWED TO TREAT THE SUPPORTERS LIKE MUSHROOMS!.

He once said that he thought I was a fun guy. Makes sense now.

Supermarkets land banking sites is hardly news so would like to think that Ron and his lawyers had thought of that solution and will have thought about compensation clauses. Unfortunately unless any of us have expertise in this area all any of us can do is make educated/uneducated guesses

Ron had a weak hand so don't expect much.

Plan B?

SUPERMARKET giant Aldi has its sights set on south Essex as part of its bid to double its number of stores in the next eight years.

The discount retailer announced it aims to have 1,000 stores nationwide by 2022 – between 60 and 65 opening next year.
Aldi said it is looking for sites in Billericay, Canvey, Basildon, Leigh, Rayleigh, Southend and Stanford-le-Hope.

To be fair, RM stayed silent for ages because he had nothing to say. He didn't have to say anything at all, so the fact that he did makes it likely that at that time he thought it was true and would be happening. Sainsbury's probably sprang the news on him.

I can understand RM saying nothing for ages especially every time he stated events would happen, they didn't.

It is a shame that we are further back, in the amount of debt, than we were many years ago. No stadium, no money and no hope.

Don't give up just yet................we may still get Phil Brown on a four year contract.

It already has two stores in Southend that I can think of, London road and eastern avenue, would it want a 3rd so close?

Or....Plan c Poundland ,99p store, and we play at Wakering Rovers ground

The fanbase in general has taken this far too lightly, almost cowardly. When Ron relegated us from League 1 there should of been uproar. Instead some slated the protests and stupidly questioned people to name a buyer also said to wait for Ron to come good. Our problems and debts continue to grow.........Well done to them.

Well when you put together a coherent, positive and constructive plan as to how we can instigate change, then I am sure many will support you. Remember though it must not include if's, but'sand maybe's, and must identify a genuine successor to RM that is going to do any better. Over to you.

Don't know why so many on here seem to think that if Sainsburys don't buy RH off Ron, plan B has to be another supermarket.. At the end of the day land is land, and could be just as attractive to housing developers as any supermarket.. I think there are plenty of options, the sainsburys deal needs to play out, be it continue ahead or agreement to not take forward, then Ronald can sell it elsewhere..

That opinion sums up everything wrong with some of our fans.

Swansea fans made a point. Forced out a bad owner, none knew who would take over.

We done nothing and...............who have done the best?

Sadly your point is glossing over the facts. Tony Petty bought Swansea for 1 pound and took 20,000 pounds to be bought out of it. Do you honestly believe that someone who spent as much as RM could or should go as easily?

Swansea City supporters Trust were hugely instrumental in the transition and the successors were known to the Trust.

Swansea Council shelled out nigh on 30 million to help put the club where they are now, which in our case would supersede the need of Sainsburys et al and undoubtedly have gotten FF built long before now.

Why should our council invest? Basically it is a no brainer;

1) Increased employment within the town both at RH and FF.

2) Area redevelopment.

3) Increased housing.

4) Getting on to a million pounds a year in community and business rates.

5) Improving the chances of the local club to become a flagship business/ambassador for the town.

Thats just five reasons FF makes sense beyond the interests of the football club. So when we ask why this and that is not done yet, perhaps we should ask more of what can be done to help rather than sharpening the blade on the guillotine.

That is a brilliant post.
At least our current council wants to help and is talking with the club and parties involved. They wouldn't even talk to Vic Jobson. But yes, when you put it like that with your five points mentioned, it does make sense that they help. Shame they can't give financial help like the Swansea council.

I have recently had to have a valuation done on my mother in laws house in Bournemouth park road and we got talking about the football club. She told me that plans were afoot to get building firms to tender for the build of flats on the Roots Hall Site so doesn't look like a supermarket will be going in there after all if this is true of course.

There were always going to be flats as part of the development.
