If we're going to have Tony Currie, who didn't actually play for us, but broke is ankle getting onto the pitch at Roots Hall, then I'll add non-playing sub Doug Young 1973.

LOL1 Absolutely, never a hair out of place!

Don't you mean the 'gorgeous' Dave Young ?[/QUOTE]

If we are including managers, Bobby Moore 1964 v Preston North End. Didn't Jack Burkett play for Southend too at one time?

Also if we are going down the managerial route (and including Scottish FA Cup Finals) Paul Sturrock played in a few but as far as I can remember, was never on the winning side.

Kevin Baron,inside-left 1954-58,a very good player, had appeared in the1950 Cup Final for Liverpool v Arsenal.

Spencer Prior won the league cup with Leicester i think must be mid late 90's

Will Atkinson was a runner up to

If extended to managed Southend, you could include

Dave Webb - Chelsea, 1970 Final v Leeds
You could also include Dave Webb's assistant Kevin Lock who played for West Ham along with Frank Lampard Snr. in the 1975 Final against Fulham who had Bobby Moore playing. Also in the 1975 League Cup Final Aston Villa beat Norwich 1-0 with Ian"Chico"Hamilton playing for the winners & former manager Peter Morris playing for Norwich City.(Chico also got a losers medal in 1970-71 when Villa lost to Spurs 2-0). Include the following John Neal Aston Villa L.C.winner 1960-61, Bill Punton Norwich City L.C.winner 1961-62, Lawrie Leslie Stoke City L.C.R/Up.1963-64, Jack Burkett/Bobby Moore played when WHU lost to WBA in the 1965-66 L.C.Final, although Jack Burkett only played in the first game(this was the last year when the League Cup Final was played Home & Away). In 1967 the League Cup was switched to Wembley, Third Division QPR beat WBA in the final 3-2 with Ken Foggo as the Albion substitute.

Didn't Bill Garner play in a final with Chelsea?
Bill did not play in any Cup Final for Chelsea. Bill joined Chelsea in September 1972(The day after Chelsea won 1-0 at Roots Hall), that season Chelsea lost to Norwich City in the League Cup Semi-Finals(Bill was unable to play because he was cup-tied). However he did play in the F.A.Cup that season for Chelsea but they lost to Arsenal 2-1 after a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge in the Quarter-Finals. This was the furtherest that Chelsea progressed in his time at Chelsea.
