Still Loves Emma Bunton. Roy McDonough is God!
Pretty sure we've done this before but I'll start. All of these were part of Southend in my lifetime

Rumbelows
Our Price
C&A
Comet
Freeman Hardy & Willis
Dixon
Sketchleys
Dolcis
Woolworths
Virgin Megastores

All of these without batting an eyelid so I'm guessing we could get 30-40.

Non chain.

Pollards

As a child money was quite tight and the only shoes my parents could afford me were the ones from Curtis in the High Street. Flipping hated that shop.
Pollards was also one I used to shop in although I suspect it will be more the females on here that would remember that one. If your not sure some of you could ask your mums or nans where they used to buy their children's underwear, school socks and Genral linen.

What was the name of that electrics shop near Sancto on London Road? Remember going there with my dad to buy an obscure replacement remote control.

You mentioning school uniform, Jackie, I am sure I used to have to go to a shop called Hornes for uniform. We could not only get the actual stuff there, including blazers, pinafores, gym knickers and the like but also buy the fabric for the summer uniform so we could make our own summer dresses!!!

Brentford Nylons is another one.

Oh Brentford Nylons - I remember that one.
I shall now show my age and say I DO actually remember Times furnishings on the corner of Southchurch Road and I also recall buying my first record (a45 -single) from the Co-op. Store in Southchurch Road
