Hi all,

There must be quite a few Southend fans about who live in the mid-Essex area (Braintree, Chelmo, Witham, Maldon etc). Unfortunately considering the distance is only 15-25 miles to Roots Hall, it is often a real headache to get to games be it because of the awful traffic especially at Fairglen, and poor public transport options (at least two trains, or an overpriced X30 bus that drops you a fair way from the ground).

I've set up a FB group called Mid-Essex Shrimpers intended for fans living in these areas, it might be good for lift shares or to warn everyone when the trains/roads are screwed (every week) etc plus perhaps a social event or two.

Please feel free to join if you are in our neck of the woods.

I'm originally from Southend but now mainly based in harlow where my partner lives and I work at stansted airport, I still go to home games when I'm not working but find it better going from harlow for away games like it was going to Luton as it was only a hour away, get to go to the odd bishop stortford and to see our loan players at harlow as its only 5 mins down the road.

Imagine living in Colchester and being a fan of 30odd years :( Like a 90 minute journey at least and tackling the A12 and 127. Suffice to say, I dont get to many games any more.

Actually... just imagine living in Colchester :( TBF, we've moved out of the main town and into a nicer surrounding town, but still.

You'll be nice and close for the JPT game next month though. As will I - 15 minutes from my house.

Currently in Braintree, feels like I am in a 15 year long exile as I really don't like the place now! So, I travel down for every home game by car, and it shouldn't be an issue but the Braintree bypass and the A12 /A130 /A127 combo drives me insane!

Will be moving back home in a couple of years time, and I can't wait!

@Lord Football has been publicising stuff on FB and Twitter. It may be worth him sticking this up on Twitter unless you already have it covered? Great idea by the way @Jai.
