Kightly announces retirement from professional football

Free wages

Not really, where’s the money come from to pay off a years worth of 4-6k a week wage?

Probably won’t free up anything, money saved from paying him off will probably go back to where it come from, or at least it should

Has he been paid off or is he going somewhere else?

I understand that his family still live in the midlands so can’t have been nice for him being away from them all last season. Still he was a massive disappointment on the pitch

There’d still be a pay off.....he’s under contract and he isn’t chucking all of a years wages away to be nice!!

But how does that work if he decides to retire? Why should we pay his contract up if it’s his choice to jack it in.

He wont be getting the full wage. But lets see if its true first.

Fully agree, a company is losing an employee and will have to recruit to replace him. I think it will probably be mutual termination of contract and they meet somewhere in the middle.

Kightly could retire comfortably I would have thought as must have been well paid at Wolves,Stoke and Burnley so maybe he will take a small part of his remaining money owed or just walk away
