How much money do you think Southend have?

We managed to sign Phil Brown when we were in League 2. Sure, they'd be a stretch to sign and they'd probably want to go elsewhere. But, I don't think they're as stupidly far-fetched as you think.

Personally though, I don't see signing anyone like that. We'll probably just give it to Waddock..

Phil Parkinson. He walked away from Bolton last week, and he must have had some idea that the takeover was about to take effect. That says to me that he was either not in the new owners plans or he didn't want to rebuild a team again.

At Southend he wouldn't have to rebuild, but he would need to reorganise them and give them some belief back. To give Bond some credit, he has made some decent signings, so getting them to work for one another and playing to their strengths may be a fairly attractive prospect to someone like Parkinson as he knows Essex and League one..

Why? There are plenty of managers who have done well in their first stint as a manager. There are also many "experienced" managers who have relegations on their cv's.

That Brian Barry-Murphy at Rochdale seems to be doing OK.

Then there’s Paul Hurst at Scunthorpe who might be available soon and Darrell Clark at Walsall. We could even throw in Nathan Jones at Stoke.

With our dodgy cash flow I doubt Parkinson would want to come here.

Bright young coach who is in tune with today’s players - I haven’t got a clue who though - it’s a total lottery really,

Steve Tilson was at the match today..apparently watched the last couple of matches. Make of that what you will.

Tilly has been going to matches for some time, not just this season. He still has a natural affinity for the club. I wouldn't read anything into his being there today - although he would be a good choice as a temporary caretaker manager.

We haven’t got any money. Sacking Bond, who is so ignorant will not walk away is going to cost us a fortune. 2 year contract and say £150k to £200k per annum, going to cost us a few hundred thousand to pay him off.

We will only get some out of work Manager with limited pedigree or a former shrimper like Tilson. I would love Barrett, but can we afford to pay Millwall the compensation.

What ****es me off is the amount we are paying out for past it players like Ridgewell and Milligan! Restricting our budget.

Ian Holloway, Barrett, Tilson, Clark, Maher. Parkinson a safe bet to keep us up and that may swing it for Ron........his teams don’t roll over like we have this season.

Ian Holloway? Maybe 20 years ago. The world's moved on and I haven't seen any signs that he has.

Most Manager contracts nowadays, have a notice period written into the contract. So I would suspect Ron inserted a similar clause into Bonds. I would suspect something like a 3 month notice period say for the first year and then 6 months after that. So it would only cost us 3 months salary in which to pay him off. But would also work the same way had he been successful then any club looking to poach would only need to pay 3 months salary compensation, unless again another clause was included that would entail is to say £100k (just a random figure plucked)

So I would argue that we can afford to sack him and it would be better to take a 3 month hit than at least a season of league 2 (likely to be longer)

In most professions a dismissal could follow a competency (or lack of) procedure.

Is there any chance there is a probationary period - get rid he’s not up to the job.

Really, makes the contract worthless if it’s has 3 month notice, effectively a 3 month contract....can’t see many people agreeing to that
