Whilst the vast majority making the trip from South Essex to Kent for Southend United's away game with Gillingham FC will have come to the game by coach, car or train, a small group of supporters joined by Southend United's Head of Commercial are taking a different option.

The Trust is pleased to announce that on Saturday 5th October 2019 nine Shrimpers Trust members together with Southend United's Head of Commercial Rhys Ellingham will be putting on their walking boots to trek the 33.4 miles from Roots Hall Stadium to Southend's away game with League 1 rivals Gillingham FC at the Priestfield Stadium ME7, Kent.

Setting off at the ridiculous hour of 11pm on Friday 4th October we will be walking through the night raising funds for the Trust and Little Havens Hospice.

Further details can be found here.

If you take your swimming trunks it could be a bit shorter. Or you could die.

Good luck all! :Thumbs up:

Thank you to all who donated in the Shrimpers Bar beforehand and during the half time walkabout today.

They're doing well so far, Orsett Fire Station welcomed them in for a comfort break and Gravesend Borough Council sent along a member of staff to open the market facilities for them for another one later on.

Now been joined by a Gillingham supporter who will be walking the rest of the way with them.

Over £3,000 raised online at Just Giving so far, if you haven't done already, please dig deep.

Great effort everyone involved.

Watch this, THIS is why they did it, simply inspirational.

Overwhelmed by this, never had much time for the man, but this is an exceptional gesture

Don’t like Steve Evans but perhaps he’s not all bad,! Noticed our squad donated the massive amount of £300 shame our team isn’t as tight with conceding goals. Well done to all who helped/ walked, please donate if you haven’t so far

The Blues on Tour did a raffle on our coach, with all proceeds going to Little Havens. We raised £122, and rounded it up to £150. This will be paid directly to Havens.

Well done everyone who walked that. No mean feat.

Thanks Blues on Tour for organising the Raffle and for the money raised, it's much appreciated.

Thanks also to OBL for providing updates on here.

And thanks also to all Zoners that contributed via the Just giving site.

TEN Southend United supporters raised £7,400 by walking from Roots Hall to Gillingham for Saturday’s League One clash.
