More “top level” football nonsense- planned “super league”

Will this involve these clubs no longer playing within the Premier League? Or is it just a Champions League reboot?

It’s a separate competition to go alongside the league and European competitions as I understand it.. UEFA have said that any club who take part though could be banned from taking part in their competitions and the players from those clubs could also be banned from international football.

Good riddance. And they can take their ugly Premier League trophy with them. Don't let them back in with their current owners.

Dust down the old EFL trophy and let Wolves and Palace fight for the title. It'll probably be more fun than watching "City".

Looks like it's going ahead.

I like they have agreed with themselves to join and at no point seem to think they need permission.

This won't happen for no other reason than the PL will lose most of it's interest and income, they won't let they compete in this.

Let's hope this is the beggining of the end for the greedy PL

How are they going to stop them? As you said the PL will lose almost all their income if those 6 clubs left so they can't threaten to kick them out of the league because the clubs will know they're bluffing. If anyone is going to stop this it will be UEFA and FIFA, both are threatening to ban any players appearing in the Super League from playing in international tournaments, some players will happily retire from international duty and take the money but many others won't be willing to give that up.

Gary Neville called out the plans on Sky Sports earlier and said every club involved in this idea should be docked points and fined heavily (including Man United), he seems livid with what's being proposed. What's interesting though is that Sky didn't cut him off and have actually uploaded his rant to YouTube, I don't like what Sky have done to football but if they're against the plans it could cause the clubs involved to think twice about going forward.

Just want to point out to everyone that if this starts next season and the 6 are kicked out we'll be staying up.

Personally I think this is fantastic news, they can bugger off and not come back. 99% of their 'fans' are bizarre human beings with a need to attach themselves to 'success' and the majority of fans are based in China anyway, so when Man Utd-Liverpool is played in Beijing in a couple of years time it's win win for everybody.

Initially I thought this was a terrible idea and the downside is missing out on an away FA cup tie to one of these big 6 - as we don’t get past the 2nd round it’s no biggie.

The positive is that it gives English football a real chance to rebuild the league structure, finances & competitions to make it better, maybe time for the German model of 51% fan ownership, salary caps, onions in burgers.
