Zone Update To the Silent Majority. The Bare Facts. The Result.

It can be done via the paypal linkhttps://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=_donations&business=john@shrimperzone.com&handling=0.00&item_name=ShrimperZone&currency_code=GBP&Z3JncnB0= or i can give you our bank details via PM?

Thank you.

Paypal should be okay.. and no, thank you for all the hard work you and the rest of the staff continue to do to make this place such an enjoyable forum to visit and socialise on.

I'm one of those who post very occasionally but log on here quite a lot. For us exiles the Zone is very often the only way we get to hear any news, as well of course for us to get to hear what other fans think (not always views I agree with!)
So for some months (over a year I think) I've been sending a fiver by monthly standing order - it's just 60 quid a year and to be honest this site is worth so much more to me than that.
I know that it may go against everything Cricko and the others hold dear, but what possibility of a membership fee? just a small one, but it'd surely help. Non-members would still get to look but cannot post? Just my old bloke ramblings..............

Mind you.... I see that I haven't got a gold star!!!

Any chance of a tower thingy which may encourage us to reach our target, which I suggest should be set a little above the basic requirement to give us a bit of extra financial back up for any rainy day,

This was suggested before and thought a good idea?

Love the site and always contribute given the huge effort by our great stalwarts who keep this going , giving up hours of their time , and in the main keeping our spirits up in tough times.

I like to try to contribute to most things that come up like quizzes and sweepstakes etc as well as continue to make regular donations over the years, Ever grateful for the folks who come up with the ideas and efforts to help fund raise

I shall add a further decent wodge to the pot when I finish writing this

Cheers Cricko and Team

Think being visible with the money spent and the income (think like a tracker) could help. Seems the zone ask for a lot a cash and have various things going on a lot of the time to raise cash, so a bit of transparency could help people see what the short fall really is and then can make the choice to help or not.
It's that word! I see a demonstration coming.

I have used this site a lot more during the last year with all the lockdowns and made a contribution to the running costs a month or so ago. I had been using the site for years so my contribution was long overdue.

I'll be looking to set up a monthly contribution. If made via PayPal does it shows as as a Direct Debit on your bank statement. Reason I ask is a lot of the bank accounts require 2 direct debits when switching accounts and to earn monthly rewards (Barclays Blue Rewards, Halifax and Natwest) and I like to have a lot of accounts to gain all of the rewards I can from the banks.

I think perception is a marvellous thing. When a competition is arranged, a lot of the time the money does not go to ShrimperZone, it will go to the prize winners. Player Sponsorship, for example, is run each year and all we collect is enough money to pay the fee required by the Club. As @Cricko says we have relied heavily on sponsorship that does not blitz the Zone with adverts and with the departure of some of those it does make a cash shortfall. At the end of the day if you choose to donate then we will be very grateful, the alternative is you continue using the Zone for nothing, taking advantage of any improvements that are made to the Zone. All the moderating team, admin and the owner (@Cricko) give our time for nothing and in fact I have known @Cricko to actively put his own money into the Zone when unexpected bills appear. I get what you are saying about transparency but it's not something I necessarily agree on because when we have enough sponsorship funding coming in then there is very little need to ask for donations.

Ok guys and ladies, this is how it is.

ShrimperZone costs over £3200 per year to just run. We have lost due to retirement and other reasons 3 of our sponsors, in fact we are not even sure we will have the others by the start of the season as we are still awaiting replies from them.

That leaves us in a very precarious position as to whether we will have funds to continue.

We have some regular people who time after time help out with donations/quizzes/monthly DD's that all goes towards the running costs. These people are absolute stars hence why they now have a ⭐ by their names. I have gone back 6 months as a start date to find those people and if you do not have one but have helped, my apologies, Please PM me and let me know. I will also add I have a few missing people from my list who have DD with us but I cannot find them by their email addys on here, again PM me if you are one of those.

The vast majority of the members who log on day after day to either read or post on here do nothing to help The Zone financially.

Yet we have over 1000 daily visits. It just does not make sense that for the cost of a pint we could have funds for the year+ It is your Zone so it is time to dig deep people.

It really is up to you the members to help us. The alternative does not bare thinking about after 20 years of The Zone.

There are various ways you can do this.
1. You or your business sponsor a box on the Zone.
2 Find us some sponsors.
3. Set up a monthly direct debit for a fixed amount each month.
4. Just donate an amount.
5. Support us on our quizzes etc.
You can use the Green donate button in the Nav bar to help with DD's or just donate an amount, or PM if you require our bank details another way to pay or wish to help in some way.

I cannot reiterate enough how crucial of a time this is for The Zone so it is back us or lose us.

The choice is really up to you. Click here to help us. https://www.paypal.com/donate/?cmd=...0.00&item_name=ShrimperZone&currency_code=GBP

Thanks in advance and UTB.

Not sure how it’s set up but I know for example if you want to subscribe to just about anything on-line you can just stick in credit card details and it automatically takes the money every month off the card. It’s a lot easier & quicker than signing up to a DD. If that was available I’d sign up to it right now, would take my mind off the wife’s driving on the A1, I’m feeling very vulnerable in the passenger seat! You could give subscribers some additional features not available to free users, I.e ability to use emojis or include links in posts etc. If it was a fiver a month and even if just a hundred of us signed up to it, you’d be getting £6000 per year. Any surplus over and above running costs could be donated to the kids teams or whatever.
