Breaking News John Still becomes Head of Football at SUFC

This is the most positive news for ages. At last, a true professional who knows this league like the back of his hand and with a track record second to none. Now we can really start to look forward to the future with such a strong management team in place.

Wasn’t expecting this, superb news imho. Experience for Maher to lean on if needed, and non-league knowledge and contacts for days.

No mention of whether Anton Robinson is out? But the way he talks in the interview makes it sound like Robinson’s position would be redundant.

I don't know, they seem to have studiously avoided using the word "recruitment" or "scout" but its hard to see how both roles could continue without stepping on each others toes

Really happy with this appointment. Knows the London / Essex/ South East non league scene better than anyone.

I would be interested to know who was the main driver in his appointment.
Stan, Maher or Tom Lawrence? Hopefully all 3 were unanimously agreed.
Don’t know who was the main driver in it but of course they are going to be unanimous on bringing him in: it’s John Still. Had he been 20 years younger he’d have been everyone (except Barry)’s first choice for the manager’s job. As it is he’s in a different phase of his career and this seems ideal. It’s a no-brainer that I thought even SZ would be near unanimous on.

Mr Martin all of a sudden finds money to burn!! Has he been to the pawnbrokers or is this his usual smoke and mirrors trick?
All of the new management signings and funding thereof just does not add up.
If we were a well run club with a clear budget then this would all be great but.........

John Still is at the stage of his career where he doesn’t need to be treading on people’s toes. He’s not after anyone’s job and doesn’t want the daily pressures that come with it. Instead he’s a resource and mentor. Someone they can bounce ideas off, someone who has a pre-existing scouting network that can be tapped into, someone who loves going and watching matches. We’ve just hired the Encyclopaedia Britannica of non-league.
