Cost of living increases

£179.9 for premium at bp today
There feels a large slice of Déjà vu here. First Rishi Sunak cuts Fuel Tax by 5p and I watch the price per litre rise, then along comes Rishi again waving a Windfall Tax in his hand and handing out the financial goodies to the deserving, and bosh, up goes fuel again (and again). I tell you what Mr Sunak, please don't give us any more, I don't think we can afford it.

I remember a boast used to be "Oh we have two foreign holidays every year". Now it's "Oh we go camping in Sussex!"

Prices, in USD, from Friday's close...

Most of those increases are in this calendar year.

Sterling has declined about 10% over the past year, so in pounds the increase in prices will be even worse

Yep, I get all that, but the thread is about increased cost of living, hence my post. And wine has always been a money spinner for restaurants but now they're pushing the boundaries more than a bit.
It does seem that wine prices have rocketed, the price of a Bierre Moretti bottle is, no surprise, in a meal situation, more than shop purchases but not anywhere close to the mark up on wines and spirits.
In Italy, France the house wine is usually good value but we don't seem to have anything appropriate for that.

It's called pre-loading

Jubilee bunting, we got ours months ago, £1.99 at the factory shop, my uncle went and bought his last week, exact same, at factory shop for £3.99!

Esso garage along the Eastwood Road - Petrol 188p Diesel 180p. First time I've seen it that way round.

Tesco Xtra just past Thames Drive have been selling unleaded for £1.84 & Diesel for £1.81 since last Thurs.
Initially i thought they'd put the wrong price up outside, but it's remained the same since then.

Fuel in Wickford area comfortably over 180p a litre now. Driving my car as little as possible right now.

But if you owed them £££ bet you'd know about it.

Very true, I remember as a young lad starting out in life and couldn't afford things and had the Councils heavy mob knocking on my door.....This really is no different, they OWE ME MONEY NOW.

It's all a bit tongue in cheek from me, but **** me, I've waited 2 months now and I pay my council tax by DD..

Because out cat uses a litter tray we buy Catsan litter. It's currently about £12 for 20ltrs in the Supermarkets so I looked on amazon - £9...sounded good, then saw the £19.99p delivery charge. wtf!

Is the price of barrels of oil still increasing, or is this just pure greed?. Fat lot of good taking 5p off per litre in the budget a few weeks ago did?.
Yep, even the experts on tele say that fuel prices should rise, but not this fast, and not by this much. They are taking advantage of the World situation. Record profits tells you all you need to know.
