Breaking News Club Sold! (stc)

Sorrry to **** on everyone’s chips but the club hasn’t been sold and Ron Martin still owns it.

We still need to get past the court hearing tomorrow. There’s no mention of HMRC having been paid, although I hope tomorrow we find out otherwise.

This press release seems merely designed to get another extension. It should be sufficient to achieve that but any deal is subject to DD which means things aren’t nailed down yet. God knows what else will crop up when other creditors come out of the woodwork or when Ron tries to move the goalposts again.

We’re also still none the wiser as who is in the consortium, how they’ll be funding it or what their plans are for the club.

The only thing we’ve found out is that 1st November is the expected Independence Day. I suppose we found out that administration isn’t the route we’re going down and that should be good news.

First game under the new regime should be Altrincham away (unless we somehow beat Yeovil in the Cup).

Speechless, feel a little numb and shocked, but excited for the future.

Been a longtime coming.

Southend United's petition debt to HMRC has been paid in full as an agreement for the sale of the club has been reached today, it has been revealed.

I'm still enjoying these chips even with **** on them.

A Guinness has been cracked open by myself in honour of this moment. I'm immensely happy that the football club I have known for as long as I can remember has been saved from extinction.

Although I am far away from Southend-on-sea now it is still a part of my soul and until these recent times of uncertainty I don't think I fully understood that. My heart, as all of ours, beats blue blood and will do for a long time to come.

Enjoy this moment, Shrimpers. Never beaten.

Congratulations everyone, everyone associated with our club deserve this news. His reign is finally over and we can start looking forward to a future.

May be an image of tennis player, football and text that says SHRMPERS TRUST A NEW DAWN

Should have Martin Dawn on there scrubbed out just above the 'A New Dawn' line

CP has said that the HMRC tax has been paid.

Yeah just reading the Echo’s coverage.

Why doesn’t the club statement say that?

Massive well done to all of the Supporters Groups who have protested everywhere from Ratty's house to the ground. To all of those who have had discussions in the background, gone on the radio and telly and to the Shrimpers Trust who have literally worked tirelessly.

As a fan from a far, it can be difficult watching on helplessly sometimes but you have all saved this club. You should all be massively proud of your achievements.
Like to second that, and add Medway Blue and London Shrimper and other ITK's who have passed on to us exiles much needed info from behind the scenes.

So sorry I can't be there tonight but will raise a glass to all of you who have put so much effort in to make this happen, and to all the staff, management team and players who have kept the faith.

Make Roots Hall rock people, to the future!
