Breaking News Club Sold! (stc)

It's a great deal for Ron, he gets all his housing from RH & FF at FF and doesn't have to build a stadium. The £20m he gives SUFC from FF is sharing the savings he gets from the revised plan. The club wins big time. We get £20m to turn RH into a modern sustainable facility. Not borrowing or debt.

So anyone who doesn't want to see FF happening or Ron getting his ££ forgets that the club is getting ££ as well. We are joint beneficiaries of a successful outcome at FF. So Ron gets screwed we get screwed as well.

Time to move on. I'm very positive about what I hear about our new custodians, and very much look forward to hearing who the other consortium members are, and the vision for the future. I guess a press conference on or around 1st Nov.
So is Chris Phillips. According to my dad he said as much on a BBC Essex interview last night.

I've posted this on another thread, but relevant here as well. It's only an agreement that has been reached, completion date 1 November. Ron Martin has not gone yet. As we all know, agreements with Ron Martin mean nothing until they actually happen.

Unless my memory is deceiving me ( or it was more Ron bull****)

On the week commencing 15 September 2008 we were due to sign a loan agreement with a Morgan Stanley entity to fund the stadium. Planning was complete, we just needed the funding- we were almost there.

Monday 15th sept Lehman’s collapsed, MS pulled the loan offer.

It’s not done until it’s done

No indeed it’s not but I agree with other posters that we are allowed to feel positive and I’m certain JR and the consortium would have stringent docs in place before parting with any cash to pay debts. The rodent is a rule onto himself but he’s got a lot to lose here. Hopefully the council have him over a barrel with FF permissions and Tony Cox alluded to not everything is signed and sealed for him. My biggest concern is that his family of rodents may have a hand left in somewhere but that’ll become clear soon.

Let’s breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy at least some positivity. We most certainly deserve it.

SOUTHEND United are likely to remain under a transfer embargo until at least the first few weeks of November, Echosport understands.

Justin Rees and his consortium have agreed terms to take control of the Shrimpers.
But it is believed payments to lift the restrictions can not be processed until the takeover is officially completed.
Blues have been in a transfer embargo for the past 12 months but could be allowed to bring in a striker to replace the injured Callum Powell.

Morgan Stanley, don't you just hate them?

Another month of this embargo isn't great, especially with the injuries we have. It's also another month closer to January where Cardwell and the like can be poached without us giving them a new deal. I know Bridge wants to stay, so less worried about him. But Cardwell and Miley need to be tied down to a contract asap.

well, a few more weeks of embargo or a lifetime of no SUFC - I know which of these is my preference!

I am sure that the current squad are more than capable of a few more weeks, even if we need to de-register one or two to get reinforcements in the door. Not totally ideal, but manageable for Kev and the boys as we now have a short timeline to work to.

I am also pretty certain that the consortium will have built in a bit of time contingency into the 1st November date as well. The shorter the time for the sale completion the better for all concerned.

Was hoping the same.

We can only tie down Miley and Cards if they want to be tied down - be great to give them that option thou

Hopefully with the takeover they will want to stay and be part of this project. Cardwell in particular is clearly thriving and enjoying his football right now. And while we don't know exactly what the budget for the squad will be, you'd think we'd be able to offer them a decent pay rise now.

It's difficult for a player to resist when £s are thrown at you way above what we can pay. Dalby being an example.
Can't begrudge a player wanting to better himself in the EFL and earn more at certain stages of their short career.
Hopefully Cards respects the progression he's made under kev and can see the futures now looking much brighter here.
It was noticeable last night that they had very few big physical players back or front and as a result Cards had a field day. He's good in the air, very strong, but very good feet too. A second large quick athletic striker would be very useful.
We need Ralph's aerial abilities back in the team, but other than that it will be hard to improve our starting 11 other than Collin coming back in.
