Post-Match Thread and Ratings Rochdale 3-4 Southend United

Very much in the Maher out camp, but doff my cap for tonights performance. Absolutely feared the worst at 3-1 and felt it could really get away from us. But credit players and all involved for digging so deep.

The goals absolutely destroyed Rochdale, you could see them drain away.

KAF an ABSOLUTE BEAST. Clear MoM, how on earth he was still standing after 90, let alone playing another 30+. Incredible.

Enough negatives to be concerned about for Wednesday, but for now - very proud of the lads and one of the best games/results in our history now surely.
KAF was loving it. Absolutely sincere in his every move.

KAF, Bonne, Parillon and Kendall completely changed the game. The latter three should have arguably started.

We were incredibly poor until Hopper’s goal - but what an attitude to turn it around. I must say I wrote us off at 3-1 as did many others… delighted to be proved wrong!
Same... big concerns over Hayes and Goodliffe especially. Lucky the others dragged them out of what could have been a pretty spiteful few days.

Kev gets a lot of stick for his subs at times but he’s got them absolutely spot on tonight and they all had a hand in changing the game. KAF was absolutely outstanding, he was everywhere.

What a turnaround. I feared the worst after their pen. But we didn’t give up. We didn’t throw the towel in. The play offs are a lottery and we had the biggest bottle tonight

I can't believe what I've just seen. Subs made a massive difference but fair play also to the players who stayed on the pitch - just as it looked like their heads were going to drop they seemed to pull themselves together. Special mention to KAF who ran his socks off for 2 hours straight, and Bonne who has such a huge all-round impact on the game when coming off the bench.

Our second was massive - from there on the momentum was all ours and suddenly it was Rochdale who looked shaken. They could have still snuck an equaliser I feel, but we defended without fear and finally got some lucky breaks with deflections in amongst the melee.

On another night that second doesn't go in and we probably end up losing 4-1 while chasing the game - as it is, we're off to see Harry in Gloucestershire next week.

Football, eh?
