Anyone can pretend to be a fan of any club and post offensive stuff on any site on t'internet and cause untold problems --- just saying.

I simply don't think this guy is that clever though. Posted using a "real name" which exists elsewhere and tags in the IG name on his FB.

Watched the Oldham chairman on the BBC breakfast show earlier praising the fans and people of Southend on their sporting attitude after losing, one scumbag doe’s not speak for the real fans Hobson will know this.

The performative outrage on this thread is really quite something. The desire to ruin someone's life over an off colour remark said in the heat of a playoff defeat is baffling to me.

Its a shame half of you weren't as outraged when a certain rat was raping and pillaging your club for years on end.

Yes, whoever sent that message to Hobson is a total wally who needs sorting out (IMO face to face with the player to see if he is as brave as he is behind a PC) but the level of outrage over a probably coked and boozed up message is a bit OTT.

You have to be really dumb to send someone a message on social media like that anyway so I have no doubt he is a sandwich short of a picnic.

Seems to me that the Club and the Authorities will take whatever action is necessary. I have no idea what the mental state of this bloke was, and neither does anyone on here I reckon. Bottom line, hopefully he'll regret his actions and if he doesn't he'll deserve what's coming. The good thing is it doesn't seem to have damaged the Club's reputation.

I don't know about you "bazza", but I was feeling a little heated for most of the day after that defeat. I'm glad you're more interested in semantics and moral preening but you do you.

One in particular had his young children sitting next to him looking at him in shock as he expressed an angry expletive-filled rant after a particular incident. His wife looked horrified and then angry. What is wrong with people?

It's not hurt Southend at all. 1 idiot out of however many thousand is good going.

In fact, the consensus from every Latics fan I know is how much we liked Southend fans. It's easy to say after a win, but on twitter; Latics fans have gone after York fans, not Southend. You've been a credit to the club. 1 half head doesn't make a fanbase. We have our fair share.

I was speaking to Southend fans before & after the game. All absolutely sound.
