Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Transfer Thread - Summer 2025 Edition.

Transfer news
Probably trying to get as much and as long as he can, or his agent is. For someone that was unfit and underachieved in front of goal last season, he should be grateful that we are even considering a longer stay. We should be looking at players that are hungry and on the way up where improvement can be achieved.
it’s nothing to do with being grateful- the club want to keep him because Kev wants to keep him. Good enough for me. Of course if he is being offered less (and let’s assume not insultingly so) then it’s not just the £ but length of contract, what happens if we get promoted etc. The club could have just activated the option. By effectively starting again of course everything goes back on the table. So it takes time. It needs to be sorted between now and going back for training.

BTW if you want Spasov to be a huge success Bonne is exactly someone you want around- ask Pepple..

Again, that's very harsh. I'm not saying that isn't true, but there were circumstances to that. We didn't sign him until late on. He'd had no preseason because he didn't have a club and we have no reserve games in order to get him match sharp. Southend knew all of this and still took him on, because we were desperate.

We are not currently under that desperation cloud and therefore don't have to bow down to his, or anybody elses agent. However, you can't say he didn't give his all.

I was genuinely surprised by his level of commitment and respect towards the games. I thought he'd walk around like a big time Charlie, thinking he was too good for the league and put in minimal effort. He certainly didn't do that.

I know you always champion younger players instead of EFL players on the way down, I agree. I do think it's a little harsh to suggest he didn't give his all though.
He not only gave his all but did so regularly played out of position on the right wing, often from the bench and stayed behind after training to help the likes of Pepple who was keeping him out of the starting eleven.

Exactly the sort of attitude we want about the place. Not every experienced ex EFL player is the same. Very very unfair to tar Bonne with the on the way down, last payday, can’t be bothered brush. In fact every time I hear it, it makes me hope even more he gets a three year contract!!!!

Andy Carroll? Just left the club in France.

He was on £750 per week.

Worth a punt?!
It’s surely not realistic- but for £750 per week it would also be extraordinary if we tuned him down- as an aerial threat he is unsurpassed in all leagues forget ours- even if used like that guy at York who always came of the bench and always seemed to score..?

If you are 1-0 down with 10 mins to go there are few clubs in any division that would not be worried to see him come on for the next corner…

From my Reading supporting friends I think his day has well and truly passed. Sunday League standard now I believe.
