The next SUEPA event is Sat Nov 17 - we have Efe Sodje coming along (driving all the way down from Manchester for the day!). Dust down your bandanna's
Met Efe yesterday and was full of praise for the club especially Tilly,Brush and Ron.
Top guy and seemed to enjoy his time despite the result.
Well done to Andy and all for organising.

Efe was a top man yesterday. From arrival until leaving he willingly posed for pics, signed autographs, chatted wirh fans reliving great times, met old friends and proved what a top ambassador for the game he is. He travelled down from his home in Manchester to be with us and as a true family man (one of 11 children to Nigerian parents) he was off to see brothers and sisters after all was done. Efe is now working as a youth coach for Morecambe and a scout for Sheffield United. Posted up some pics of his visit on our SUEPA Facebook page earlier today. He was so humble, it all seemed a little surreal at the end of the day whe we dropped him off at Benfleet station when my son said "Dad, we've just had a World Cup player in our car"!
There is a charity match at Roots Hall in March and Efe seemed interesed in that so maybe it won't be long before we see him back at RH again.

Get over to the SUEPA FB/Twiteer pages now! After posting up Grids yesterday we this eve have a double-bill of Wordy and The Pig. Chance to re-live that 27 May 2015 video clip and restore some faith in Shrimper-watching after the Wombles mess

Next SUEPA event just announced - Lee Barnard is coming back to The Hall (for the first time since he last left) on Sat Dec 15 v Accrington Stanley. How does it go now? "Lee Barnard my Lord, Lee Barnard, Lee Barnard my Lord Lee Barnard, Lee Barnard my Lord Lee Barnard, ooohh Lord Lee Barnard" Get practicing.

Barney has always been a nice bloke, was genuinely happy to be back yesterday. Afraid I didn't get the chance to talk to James, but thought he might have been one for the Carli Lansley Foundation to talk to?

He could well be, mention it to him .James lives in Southend and like Barney he was pleased to be back yesterday, a lovely man and who is now doing great things after hanging up his boots

Running a vote over the festive period to choose the favorite Shrimper XI from the 169 members in the SUEPA squad. First up until midnight tomorow is the option to choose your favourite GK from the 18 available. Get over to the SUEPA Facebook page now to participate (and if you have not already please like the page to get it appearing on your timeline)

Martin Carruthers just signed up to be our 170th member. Also if you've not seen it catch up with the posts over the Xmas break re selecting a team from our SUEPA squad - just completed as voted on by page followers, and with a manager too

FREE Q&A in the Shrimpers Bar after the Shrewsbury match hosted by David Crown. With 20 ex-Shrimpers due to be returning to Roots Hall it promises to be lively! Make sure you are there, this is a real one-off opportunity to be with some of our ex players from the past. I'm sure too that they will be happy to oblige for pics and autographs too.

The SUEPA guests are: Glenn Pennyfather, Frankie Banks, Dave Cusack, David Young, Ron Pountney, Alan Moody, Garry Nelson, Tony Hadley, Peter Abbott, Peter Silvester, Mervyn Cawston, Danny Greaves, Phil Dudley, Adrian Owers, Jeff Hull, John Walker, Keith Mercer, Neil Freeman, Paul Clark and Neil Townsend.

Of the 178 current SUEPA members about 30 played under the Dave Smith era so we are thrilled to have had acceptances from such a large percentage. The vast majority of the others who cannot make it would have dearly loved to have been there but for a variety of reasons are unable to come so we have other events in mind for them already for the 2019/20 season.

They will all be introduced to the crowd shortly before kick-off too. Getting them to come out in the same order that Mick the PA Man announces them will be a challenge.

We do hope that you can make the Q&A. Please support the event to help it be a success as this will help us do more in the future.
