    Local elections 2018

Thought it worthwhile starting a thread on this as we are only a few weeks away. Any seats in or around Southend up for grabs this May? Obviously, London is going to be very interesting - e.g in Hillingdon Labour are really on the attack as Boris Johnson is an MP for a large chunk of that area...

    S Korea Impeachment

Had a great week in Korea, at 11am yesterday I was leaving a meeting no more than a couple of hundred yards away from the Blue House, where the President lives. The South Koreans are the friendliest people in the world and the food is fantastic but the impeachment ruling yesterday meant it was a...

Dave has the hump with his local council!

This made me smile on the BBC news this morning. PM leaning on local Tories?, naughty boy! David Cameron is involved in a row with the Conservative leader of his local county council over cuts to services. The PM has written to Oxfordshire council leader Ian Hudspeth saying he is "disappointed"...

    Your constituency

So, is anyone fortunate enough to be in a seat where there is a proper race on? Not since my first GE - 1997, when Labour defeated the Conservative incumbent in Reading East - have I cast my vote in a constituency where the result is genuinely unpredictable. Same again this time - Mike...

    Predictions, tips, etc

Starting a thread for all election tips and bets. To kick things off, I've backed the Conservative Party at 4/5 (1.80) to win the most seats. I don't think they'll get a majority and who knows what will happen with the post-election discussions, but reckon they are a fair punt in this market.

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/aug/01/conservative-voters-ukip-coalition-poll A new poll suggestst that 30% of Tory voters would like to go into coalition with UKIP after the next election. No suprises there then.It won't happen though. With only one or two MP's, (and hopefully...

How is is right that an MP steals money from her employer to the tune of 45k yet is then only asked to pay back 5k and say sorry. Surely any normal person who stole that amount would face jail for theft. This one rule for us in power and one for the plebs is disgusting.Cameron backing her...

Seems the Liverpool fans are to be charged £93 for the forthcoming cup game at the Emirates with no concessions?,Told this so not sure if accurate but if true those prices are damn crazy add the travel costs food drink and a prog means a conservative £150 at least. Mindboggling.

    The Milliband Speech

Trying to play the class card again. Almost nothing on what he will do for the economy and even nicked the 'One Nation' slogan from Disraeli, a Conservative Prime Minister. ConHome Man Turns On Cameron

Read a fairly illuminating interview with the founder of the "Conservative Home" website, Tim Montgomerie. ConHome is generally recognised as reflecting what the grassroots Tory membership are feeling. With him having supported Cameron from his leadership bid in 2005 up to the present day, it...
