  1. Memory Lane 120 years ago today .....

David Jack was born. Probably nearly as famous for scoring the first FA Cup Final goal at Wembley (dribbling round Billie, the white horse and slotting home) as he was for managing us for 6 years! He'd lived in the town and went to school at Hamlet Court whilst his father was the first Southend...

  4. SUFC Dreams

Tad bored.. what are you favourite/ best SUFC dreams, and I don't mean 'dream of one day winning the FA cup' or something like that, I mean total nonsense. I once dreamt that former goalkeeper Paul Smith drove me to work in his Aston Martin one morning, got stuck in traffic on Lower Thames...

    FA Cup winning Shrimpers

My son is at a conference in Manchester tkday and got to hold the FA Cup. it got us wondering who the last person to both play for the Shrimpers and on a winning FA Cup team was ? My thoughts were Neville Southall... Any ideas ?

    Lincoln City

I never thought the day would come when I say well done Lincoln for becoming the first non league team to make the last eight of the FA Cup since 1914. Fantastic stuff.

Nicky Bailey & Bedsente Gomis / Sutton v Arsenal

Both starting for Sutton against Leeds in the FA Cup live now on BT Sport. Should be interesting to see how they're both getting on.
  11. déjà vu ....... all over again

On this date last year: We had 31 points. We had won 8 and drawn 7 matches. We had a small positive goal difference. We were unbeaten in 6 League games. We were out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle. We were out of the League Cup at the first hurdle. All of those facts are true today.

BBC (lack of) FA Cup Coverage

Has anyone else noticed that this weekend sees 4 days of FA cup games and the BBC are showing just one game. What's the point in having the rights if they aren't going to televise the games? No doubt the BBC will show games like Stoke vs Watford in the later rounds. Yaaaaawn.
  13. Old Shrimper

Hi all, Thought I would join to hear news and opinions of other supporters. I like some of the historic comments and pictures of times past. I first starting watching the Blues in 1951 when the club played at Grainger Road stadium, travelling there on a saddle on my Dad's crossbar and then...
  14. Whole Game Solution torpedoed by FA

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37998768 Would appear that the FA have totally trashed any chance of the EFL's proposed Whole Game Solution happening any time soon. Apparently the FA have done a new international FA Cup TV rights deal worth £820million part of which means they will not be...

Pre-Match Thread Miiiiiiiwall v Sufc fa cup 1st round.

I know it's a bit early, but wondered what people's thoughts are in the build up to this one. It would be great to have a cup run. Millwall will prove tough opposition on their own patch. Will Phil Brown tinker with the team or will he play his strongest side to give us the best chance of a...

    F.A. Cup 2016/2017

If I'm not greatly mistaken it is the last of the qualifying rounds on Saturday. I presume (but do not know) that the draw will then be held on Sunday or Monday ........... and of course our name will be in the hat (well, it's a perspex sphere with a hole in the top but that doesn't quite sound...

    FA Cup 4th Substitute

The FA Cup are going to allow a fourth substitute from the quarter finals onwards: BBC Apparently that will add "intrigue and interest". Give it a rest. It'll allow teams to change one extra player should they need to, which I don't have a problem with. But add "intrigue and interest"? What...
  20. UEFA Considering Cross Border League's.

What with all the recent changes lately in our own EFL Trophy, I found this article from yesterdays Times newspaper. http://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/uefa-warms-to-idea-of-cross-border-leagues-to-close-europes-wealth-divide-dxjjh635g Long and short of it being that following a UEFA meeting...
