    Players going out on loan

Today it has been announced that Steve Smith has brought the majority share at Bishops Stortford FC. Steve was Kev Maher's assistant at Chelmsford and they are very close. I would be surprised if we don't see a couple of players go on loan there. I also heard a rumour a few months back that when...

BBC (lack of) FA Cup Coverage

Has anyone else noticed that this weekend sees 4 days of FA cup games and the BBC are showing just one game. What's the point in having the rights if they aren't going to televise the games? No doubt the BBC will show games like Stoke vs Watford in the later rounds. Yaaaaawn.
  3. Let the train take the strain ;

Had a brief chat with Jason Williams at West Ham station on the way to the game on Saturday (think he lives Stratford way) and bumped into a charming young man in a Southend tracksuit at Stratford station on the way home. I assumed he was in the youth team but he hinted he was higher up the...
  4. New T20 Format

What are people's thoughts on the new t20 league? 8 teams based on cities. I would assume our nearest one will probably play at Stratford (if allowed) I think it's a good idea although worried about the negative effect it will have on the county t20 league however the money they are talking...

    Johnny Herd/Lee Sawyer

Went to see Concord Rangers play Bishops Stortford last night and Johnny Herd and Lee Sawyer played for Bishops Stortford. In addition, Ryan Auger was listed as sub in the programme for them but was not actually in the squad. Sad to see Johnny at this level now as always liked him at Southend...

The new ground if we get one??

I went with my son to the Spammers new mighty stadium last night. 54,000 people, a hike to my seat up in the land of the gods (a parachute under my seat) and near heart failure to get there. It made me think though, would I really want my beloved Shrimpers to go that far? My answer was a...

    Dan Bentley and David Worrall

Highlights of Brentford vs Millwall. Bentley makes a good save and Worrall's effort is woeful: Brentford
  9. Daniel Bentley

Didn't figure in Brentford's 22 man squad last night (they lost to Boreham Wood 2-1)

    Alan McCormack

Not again ! Old Blue Lady will be pleased, http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/brentford-midfielder-alan-mccormack-holds-11582395
  11. John Egan also signing for Brentford. Remind me what he did for us, please?

I know he played for Blues 13 times, but my mind goes blank trying to remember what he was like.

    Bentley joins Brentford

Been made official. No mention of the fee.

    Set to sign for Brentford.

    £25m for Troy Deeney?!

Watford have now turned down a £25m bid from Leicester for Troy Deeney. He seriously isn't worth more than that, is he? If Shane Long went for £12m, I don't see Deeney being worth any more than about £15m personally. The Premier League has gone mad with its 'English tax' on homegrown players.

    Dean Austin

    Has quit Watford. http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11686/10301949/dean-austin-will-not-stay-at-watford-to-work-under-walter-mazzarri

The next level of west ham

Now this is a serious quote and it would be interesting to hear other shrimpers views, from what I can see is that east London mob are moving into a new phase of their club, new stadium (we paid for!) more fans at games more money etc... And not to mention they have got a good squad and manager...

Pre-Match Thread Southend United v Sheffield United

Right, can't wait for this big Easter Monday clash. I love Easter Monday matches, me. Who can forget that 1-1 draw with Watford that time or when we all got booted up in the air by Millwall in 1980. The match was a bit physical, as well! :thump: Anyway, Roots Hall will be rocking with a...

Yes he play's the idiot very well, yet is one clever dude ! Just seen Boris perform in Dartford with his out vote and even though I intend voting out,he has 100% convinced me even further to get out of the EU. Future PM in waiting.

  20. Ref Watch .... Scunthorpe A

Our record at Glanford Park is not good. It reads DDDLLDLLDDL. Looking for positives, we have lost less than half the matches played there. As we seek our first win there, the man in charge is David Coote from Winthorpe near Newark. He is a sixth year referee and he has been fast-tracked...
