Even then the original charge of manslaughter was dropped and the two policemen in question were convicted of assault.

:omg:

Probably a few who pleaded guilty or jumped before they were pushed but even so....

Where did you stumble upon that little snippet? Is this in relation to the Tomlinson case?

The Tomlinson case is an absolute joke and highlights the protection that cops get when they do wrong. Anyone else would be inside for manslaughter.

How do you think the jury, having listened to all the evidence, protected the cop? In my view, the fault lies with the CPS who decided to go for manslaughter, which was too difficult to prove beyond a reasonable doubt. If they had prosecuted him for GBH or wounding with intent for example, he would have been far more likely to have been found guilty.

A bit of boredom led me via Wikipedia links to the death of Blair Peach. Shocking, just shocking how the police literally get away with murder even after 30+ years.

He would have still just got a slap on the wrist.

Tomlinson died as a direct result of that copper shoving him to the ground, coroners report showed this to be the case. A man, defenceless and doing nothing wrong, accosted by someone in authority and end up dead.

Had it been the other way round, Tomlinson would be in jail now, guilty of manslaughter and we all know it.
