There will be a few clubs who will have 2 lists drawn up dependent on the promotions & relegations farce.

It not clear how certainty in this regard will happen in a timely manner- clubs will have to take a cautious approach so probably some will be released that otherwise would be kept?

Not sure it’s possible to sign provisional contract subject to confirmation of league outcome?

None of the options. White, McLaughlin, Kinali and possibly Sam Barratt of the out of contracts - all depends with White and Macca which league we'll be in and whether caps are in place as I suspect both would have to take a cut in L2.

I don't have a massive problem with Shaugnessy, as I thought he'd done well just before we stopped playing, but I think there may be better options, and possibly cheaper.

I saw Macca the otherday and had a chat from I think our cars, really nice guy, seemed keen to stay no matter what division

Good question- I think it was more he accepted a smaller contract on the basis he wanted to get into coaching and that was there as an incentive year 2- whatever was envisaged I would have thought for all parties it would work best if he was a player-coach- maybe the only way the £££ work..

And of course the change of manager might change everything- although Milligan seemed to a consistent pick for Sol I suspect our coaching budget is somewhat stretched..
 
I’d consider keeping Mantom. Out of the out of contract lot I’d offer new deals to McLaughlin (only if we stay in League One), Kinali and Taylor (they will be cheap). The others I’m not bothered about.
 
We could build a team around McLaughlin. His attitude seems to have improved big time. Whether we will be able to keep him in L2 is another thing. I’d let Mantom and Hyam go, 100%. Part of me thinks we need to lose as many of the senior pros who started the season as possible. We should do all we can to keep Phillips, Gard, Kelman and Clifford, the rest .. not fussed.

With so many youngsters in the squad we’re going to need some older heads around to take the lead - John White and Mark Milligan both well placed to do this - I’d retain them both
 
That's a very different looking squad to the start of the season, I'd probably offer White and Barratt another year depending on the money, whichever league we are in finances are going to be incredibly tight next season so the investment in the academy over the previous few years seems like it's payed off
 
It's a massive game of cat and mouse, it's a buyers market now with so many players out of contract so I think it's far more dependent on who COULD come in?

Mantom—it would be great if we could keep him ,obviously.
McLaughlin—another very good player.
Shaughnessy and Barratt — both showing encouraging signs.

NO
Milligan—too far past his best.
Hyam—good player but too many injuries.
White—never been good enough.
Kinali and Taylor—haven’t shown enough ability.....yet?

What he said. And another deal for Barrett. There is a player there - fitness holding him back but decent widemen are lacking...

Shaunessey? Not sure. One thing I am sure, both Sol and HH know a decent Centre Back when they see one so happy to go along with whatever decision they take.
 
As has been said there are several linked and uncertain issues.
Who will be manager next season.
What division will we be in.
What budget is available.
How are those injured and under contract likely to perform and are they wanted.
Who wants to get away.

Milligan and Shaughnessy may fancy staying with Sol, as might Macca.
White likely wants a new 2 yr deal.
Mantom seems keen to go and Hyem has already left.
I don't see Sol wanting Barratt or Goodship.

Sol will want another goal keeper and a proper no 9 to challenge Humphreys for the position.
